Morgan’s Raid topic

Alice Whitehill will present “The Day the Civil War Came to Our Backyard” when the Salem Historical Society meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Dale Shaffer Library meeting room. She will discuss the trail of Confederate Brigadier General John Morgan, who, in the summer of 1863, led a 1,000 mile raid up the Ohio River deep into Union territory. Whitehill is a volunteer with the Friends of Beaver Creek State Park and a past employee of the Western Reserve Historical Society working at Loghurst in Canfield. She is also a history enthusiast taking special interest in Civil War history. Guests and members will be greeted by Judy White.
