“Apps and Technology for Your Health” class offered

SALEM — The “Apps and Technology for Your Health” class will be taught by technology instructor Stephanie Peterson at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Salem Public Library. Attendees are encouraged to bring a laptop or a tablet. The class is provided through a Guiding Ohio Online Grant provided by the Institute of Museum and Library Services and the State Library of Ohio. The program is free of cost to attend and open to the public. Seating is limited and registration is required at or 330-332-0042.

Caroling set in Hanoverton Sunday

HANOVERTON — Caroling in the community of Hanoverton is planned from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday. Carolers are asked to meet at the gazebo in Betz Park. Hot cocoa and cookies will be served at the Hanoverton Presbyterian Church.

SRMC Auxiliary plans Holiday Tree Raffle

SALEM –Salem Regional Medical Center’s (SRMC) Auxiliary is sponsoring its annual Holiday Tree Raffle and Memorial Ornament Sale from Dec. 6-13. The public is invited to purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win one of several unique holiday trees decorated by members of the SRMC family. The trees will be displayed in SRMC’s cafeteria. Tickets will be sold from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Tickets will also be sold from 7 to 10 a.m., 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Dec. 7, 10, 11 and 12. On Dec. 13, tickets can be purchased from 7 to 9:30 a.m. Tickets will also be available for purchase in SRMC’s Look Nook Gift Shop from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Winners will be announced on Dec. 13. Raffle proceeds will be used to assist the auxiliary in enhancing patient care and comfort at SRMC. For more information call SRMC’s development office at 330-337-2883.

United Local Band Holiday Concerts planned

HANOVERTON — United Local Band Holiday Concert Series will be held on Dec. 9 and 19 at the high school. All concert bands grade five to 12 will perform on Dec. 9. The Fifth Grade and High School Concert Bands are performing at 2:30 p.m. The Sixth Grade and Junior High Bands are performing at 4 p.m. Both concerts are free to the public in the high school auditorium. The United Jazz Band and Flight Show Choir will host “Carols and Cocoa” at 7 p.m. Dec. 19 in the high school cafeteria. Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for senior citizens/students.

Holiday Arts and Crafts show set Saturday

SALEM — The 2018 Holiday Arts and Crafts show will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday in the gymnasium at the Memorial Building at 785 E. State St. Santa will visit with children from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Food will be available for purchase at the concession stand which features soup, sandwiches, beverages, etc.

Scott Sheldon, building manager, said that at least 20 vendors will exhibit displays, including homemade baked goods, crafts, crocheted items and a large selection of Christmas gifts. Vendor spots are still available. For information on table rental call Sheldon at 330-332-5512. Cost is $25 per table, which includes an 8-foot table and two chairs. Set up will be done of Friday night. Proceeds from the vendor table rental fees and kitchen sales will benefit the Memorial Building which is a United Way Agency.
