Soup sale at Mile Branch

ALLIANCE — Mile Branch Grange will hold its monthly drive-thru soup sale from 4 to 6 p.m. Jan. 10 at 495 Knox School Road. Cost is $6 per quart. Soup choices are broccoli cheese and vegetable beef. Soup must be preordered by noon on Jan. 9 by calling 330-821-8023 to leave your name, phone number, type of soup and number of quarts.

SRMC Aux. to host purse sale

SALEM — Salem Regional Medical Center Auxiliary will host an “In the Bag” purse sale from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. Jan. 29 and 30 in the hospital’s private dining room. Up to 60 percent off is available on a large selection of brand name and designer handbags, luggage, briefcases, wallets, mini bags and small leather goods. January slate set at society

SALEM — The Salem Historical Society has announced its January activities. The museum and gift/book shop at 239 S. Lundy Ave. will be open from 9 a.m. to noon Jan. 7, 9, 10, 14, 16, 17, 21, 23, 24, 28, 30 and 31. Call for tour appointments at 330-337-8514.

Jan. 12: Salem Second Saturday, “Start your new year off right. Learn something new about something old.” The society will have staff available to assist you with local research from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Shaffer Library. The gift shop will be open.

Jan. 21: Martin Luther King Day: Black history exhibit in Freedom Hall will be open from 9 a.m. to noon. Learn more about Salem’s role in the Underground Railroad and the early black families who settled in Salem.

SRMC to hold blood drive

SALEM –To help ensure a sufficient blood supply is available locally, Salem Regional Medical Center will host an American Red Cross blood drive from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 9 in the Tower Conference Room on the hospital’s ground floor concourse. Individuals who have not given blood since Nov. 14 are eligible to donate. “Power Red” donations will also be available at this drive, which means that individuals meeting certain criteria may elect to give two units of red blood cells at one time. SPL to host emailing class

SALEM — Technology instructor Kathy Bennett will guide attendees through safe and effective emailing practices at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 17 in the Quaker Room at the Salem Public Library. The class is open to the public, suitable for adults, and free of cost to attend. Attendees are encouraged to bring a laptop computer or tablet if possible.
