Swiss steak dinner offered in East Rochester

EAST ROCHESTER — A swiss steak dinner will be served from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the East Rochester United Methodist Church, 24754 U.S. Route 30. The meal includes mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, cole slaw, applesauce, rolls, dessert and beverage. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under. Diners may dine-in, carryout or call ahead at 330-894-2515. Proceeds will be used for the church and missions.

“Fix It Wizard” program set at Salem Library

SALEM — Salem Public Library’s “Fix It Wizard” program begins at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 27 in the library’s Quaker Room. The free program will be presented by Jim Grimm, parks foreman for the Salem Parks and Recreation Department. Attendees will learn how to properly care for lawn mowers and small engines to extend the life and use of the machines. Register at or 330-332-0042.

Columbiana County Park District Board to meet

LISBON — The Columbiana County Park District Board will meet in regular session at 4:30 p.m. Feb. 20 at the County Development Office, 130 W. Maple St.

Saxon Club plans carryout only fish fries

SALEM — Beginning March 8, a fish fry will be held from 4:30 to 7 p.m. every Friday at the Salem Saxon Club, 1980 Newgarden Road. Carryouts only will be available. Dinners include your choice of fried fish, baked fish or pork chops, with scalloped potatoes, green beans, cole slaw or fruit and homemade cake. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children.

Pork chops and baked fish dinners must be ordered in advance by calling 216-410-7291 before Friday morning. A cash bar will be open to the public while waiting for their orders. Dinners will continue to be served at the same time every Friday through April 12.

United schools set open enrollment meeting

HANOVERTON — Parents of children who will be 5 before Aug. 1, 2019, and live in the United School District or are considering open enrollment are invited to attend a parent orientation meeting at 6 p.m. March 11 in the elementary cafeteria. Registration packets will be distributed at the meeting and other information will be shared to help with enrolling new students. Appointments will be scheduled for March 19, 20 or 21, when packets can be returned and students will be screened. Bring the following documents: child’s birth certificate, Social Security card, immunization records, custody documents (if applicable), a photo identification and two proofs of residency. These will be presented along with the completed registration packet on the scheduled screening date.
