Canfield Community Concert Band to perform

CANFIELD–The Canfield Community Concert Band will present a free concert of American music at 3 p.m. March 10 in the Canfield High School Auditorium, 100 Cardinal Drive. The program will feature the music of Bernstein, Copland, Ticheli, Jenkins, Smith and Fillmore.

Donations of cash and non-perishable food items will be accepted at the door to support Operation Blessing’s mission to help those in need in the Canfield community.

The Canfield Community Concert Band is a group of volunteer musicians that enjoy making music and sharing it with the community. In addition to this annual benefit concert, the band performs regularly throughout the summer at outdoor venues, and at nursing homes during the holiday season.

Columbiana County Relay team meeting set

EAST LIVERPOOL–The Columbiana County Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society Team/Lead meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at Kent State University-East Liverpool’s Purinton Hall study lounge. New teams are encouraged to attend.

This year’s Relay for Life event will be held from 6 p.m. May 31 to 9 a.m. June 1 at the East Liverpool High School Frank J. Mangano Track and Field.

Project DAWN Training and Naloxone distribution

BOARDMAN–The Mahoning County District Board of Health will be conducting a Project DAWN Community Training and Naloxone Distribution event from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Feb. 28 at the Boardman Township Government Center meeting room, 8299 Market St.. The free event does not required pre-registration. Kits will be provided to the first 30 participants.

Participants will receive a Project DAWN kit and training on the following:

— Identifying risk factors for opioid overdose

— Recognizing an overdose

— Calling emergency medical services

— Giving intranasal naloxone

— Monitoring the person until help arrives

Funding for the Mahoning County Project DAWN Program made possible through a partnership with the Mahoning County District Board of Health, Mahoning County Mental Health and Recovery Board, and the Ohio Department of Health.
