Weingart Cousins observe birthdays

SALEM — Birthdays were observed when eight members of the Weingart Cousins met recently. The group’s next breakfast begins at 8:30 a.m. March 6 at Adele’s Place.

Blood drive planned at nursing facility

SALEM — Salem Healthcare Centers will hold an American Red Cross blood drive on Wednesday at Salem East, 230 Continental Drive. The public is invited to donate blood from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. To register call Jessica Szelazek at 216-379-1234.

The public is also invited to enter a soup cook-off at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 22 at Salem East. For more information or to enter your soup call Szelazek.

Benefit event will help pay for funeral

SALEM — A benefit for funeral expenses for Matthew Post will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. March 2 at the Flying Pig, 175 N. Ellsworth Ave. A “pot luck” dinner will be served for $10 for ages 18 and over; and $5 for ages 17 and under. There also will be a Chinese auction and 50/50 drawing. Music will be provided by DJ Goodtimez.

Post passed away on Dec. 22, 2018, following brain cancer and end stage renal failure. He leaves five children and four grandchildren.

Deerfield dance slated for March 4

DEERFIELD — The Deerfield Historical Society’s first Monday dance will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. March 4 at the Deerfield Town Hall, 1450 Route 14. Music will be provided by the Deerfield House Band. Food will be available for purchase. Admission is $4.

TOPS 777 honors top weight loss

SALEM — Mabel Pasco presented the program at the TOPS #777 meeting on Feb. 6. She also offered the inspiration titled “Focus.”

Quarterly KOPS awards went to Sara Fender, Linda Gerace and Shirley Johns. Joann Sanor was the quarterly best loser. She also presented the encouragement awards. Weekly best losers were Pasco and Linda Evanoff. Monthly winners were Brenda Adams, best loser; and Sanor, runner up.

Fat Tuesday event

SALEM — Tickets are still available for the Salem Community Center, Salem Rotary Club and Salem Kiwanis Club’s Feed the Salem Community Pantry Fat Tuesday fundraiser. The public is invited to the event to be held from 5 to 7 p.m. March 5 at the community center, 1098 N. Ellsworth Ave.

Tickets are available at the community center, or from a Rotary or Kiwanis member. All proceeds will benefit the Salem Community Pantry.

Those interested in being a celebrity chef must reserve a table by Feb. 25. Chefs are asked to provide their own warming device (non-electric) and server for the table. If unable to provide a server, one can be arranged. A sign with your name, or the name of your business, will be provided by the organization and displayed on each table. Clothing closet

to host open house

NORTH LIMA — Diva Donations, the area’s first formal clothing closet run on #KindDeedCurrency, will host an annual open house and vendors event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 9 at the Old School Market Place, 11836 South Ave.

This event includes a basket raffle, door prizes and the grand opening of Devoted Diva’s Boutique. Girls will be able to view hundreds of prom dresses available for use for the 2019 prom season. The Diva Donations #KindDeedCurrency program allows girls to obtain a dress, shoes and jewelry in exchange for two hours of volunteer service helping any 501c3 charity in their area.
