Salem Council sets special meeting

SALEM — City council will hold a special meeting at 6:45 p.m. Thursday in council chambers for the purpose of taking action on the ordinance to advertise for bids for the 2019 street paving program, along with expected action on the wage ordinance related to range of pay, the fringe benefits ordinance related to vacation time and ordinances for mutual aid with Alliance Police, Kent State University and the Major Crimes Task Force.

A meeting of the Economic Development Committee that had been set for Thursday has been cancelled.

The Committee of the Whole will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday regarding the SAFEbuilt proposal, committee work and the possible cost related to changing the zoning area in downtown.
