Village Singers to present Spring Concert Saturday
LISBON–The Village Singers will be presenting their Spring Concert, “Imagine,” in loving memory of Jim Humphrey at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Lisbon First United Methodist Church 114 E. Washington St. It is a donation only event with refreshments at intermission. Doors open at 7 p.m.
Concert planned at Salem Community Center
SALEM–The Salem Community Center with the Salem Community Foundation will host a complimentary concert from 6 to 7:30 p.m. May 21. Featured for this free event are the members of the Salem High School Class of 1966. Music will include that of Elvis, Chuck Berry, Motown, and the Rolling Stones. Breakfast offered in Damascus Saturday
DAMASCUS–Damascus United Methodist Church and Middle Sandy Presbyterian Church will host their monthly breakfast from 7 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Damascus church, 300 Valley Road.
The breakfast features all-you-can-eat, made-to-order pancakes, eggs, sausage, bacon, toast, juice and coffee. The suggested donation is $5 for adults and $3 for children under 10 years.
The breakfast proceeds will benefit the upcoming 2019 Summer Mission Trip to Cluster 13 Ministries in Camden, N.Y. Due to continually rising costs of the breakfast, the suggested donation will be increased to $6 for adults and $4 for children under 10 years beginning with the July 20 breakfast.
Sebring school board meeting rescheuled
SEBRING–Sebring Local Schools’ regular scheduled board meeting will be rescheduled as a special board meeting on Tuesday, May 28; Monday, July 8; and Monday Aug. 26. Meetings are held at 6 p.m. in the high school library.
Breakfast buffet set at North Lima church
NORTH LIMA– The North Lima Mennonite Church, 90 Mennonite Drive, will host a breakfast buffet from 7 to 10 a.m. May 25. The cost is a donation and the buffet includes eggs, pancakes, French toast, sausage, potatoes, homemade pastries, sausage gravy and biscuits, peppers and mushrooms, coffee, orange juice and other beverages. Memorial Day parade to kick off Hanoverton observance
HANOVERTON–Hanoverton’s Memorial Day program will begin with a parade at 1:45 p.m. at Pelley Park led by the United High School band and Hanover Township Fire Department. The program will be held at 2 p.m. at Betz Park with Mayor Dan Kibler as master of ceremonies and Columbiana County Commissioner Tim Weigle as keynote speaker. In case of rain, the program will be held in the Hanoverton Presbyterian Church.
Cruises set on North Georgetown Fire Station grounds
NORTH GEORGETOWN– Cruising with Shawn to North Georgetown 2019 will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. the third Monday of each month now through September at the North Georgetown Fire Station grounds behind the former Old Stagecoach Inn. Rain dates for the June through September events are the fourth Monday of each month.
Cars, trucks, motorcycles and tractors are welcome. No registration fee is required. Dash plaques will be provided and five trophies (one for oldest stock automobile and four for sponsors’ choice) will be awarded each night. There will also be a 50-50 drawing and door prizes.
The cruises are co-sponsored by the North Georgetown Volunteer Fire Department, Chilson’s Auto Body, Reichenbach Motors and the Shaffer Family (in memory of the Old Stagecoach Inn). The fire department and First Brethren Church will provided hot dogs, sloppy joes, coney dogs, potato and macaroni salad, chips and drinks, as well as ice cream when possible.
