Feed & Sing to host roast beef fundraiser

SALEM– Feed & Sing, 38135 Salem Unity Road, will host a Beef Roast from 4 p.m. to midnight May 11 as a building fundraiser for the Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley.

The Feed & Sing: Beef Roast will feature live music from Shawn and Friends from 6 to 8 p.m. and Four Lane Highway Band from 8 to 11 p.m. The menu includes beef hind (1/4 on the vertical spit), potatoes, vegetables and bread and butter.

Cost is $10 and includes all you can eat and soft drinks.

Western Reserve Knitting Guild to meet

CANFIELD–The Western Reserve Knitting Guild will meet at 7 p.m. May 14 at the Rotary Community Building in Fair Park in Canfield. Mary Largent will demonstrate yarn overs. To participate bring yarn and the appropriate size knitting needles. Officer positions for the upcoming 2019-2020 year are now open. Anyone interested in the Guild, its charity work or to donate to its charity work can contact wrkg.ohio@gmail.com.

Salem Historical Society Museum opens for season Sunday

SALEM–The Salem Historical Society Museum will open for the season on Sunday and be open from 1 to 4 p.m. each Sunday through Oct. 27. Guided tours of all the exhibits are available during these times. Members are admitted free. Admission for adults 18 and older is $6. Children ages 5 to 17 are $3. Children under 5 are admitted free.

The Museum has grown from a mere six rooms to over 13,000 square feet of exhibits in 20 rooms in four buildings. Artifacts related to Victorian life, entertainment, grooming, food, education, medicine, transportation, early settlers, sports, music, commerce, military and abolition are included. The last tour begins a half hour before closing. Guests are encouraged to come early and plan to stay at least 90 minutes. This year’s feature exhibit, available only in 2019, features the history of transportation in the Salem area.

Group tours are available by appointment. The entrance and parking for Museum tours is at 208 S. Broadway Ave.
