JFS Planning Committee meeting canceled

LISBON–The Job and Family Services Planning Committee meeting scheduled for May 28 at CCDJFS has been canceled due to the lack of new business and/or voting items to discuss at this time.

Healthy Eating for You to meet in Boardman

BOARDMAN–Healthy Eating for You, a free program sponsored by Mercy Health Foundation Mahoning Valley and led by a registered dietitian, will address portion size, reading and understanding nutrition labels, and learning to eat mindfully from 2 to 4 p.m. June 4 at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital, 8401 Market St. To register call 330-480-3070.

Salem West Healthcare to host cruise June 5

SALEM– Salem West Healthcare Center will host a Cruise and Car Show from 5 to 7 p.m. June 5 at 2511 Bentley Drive. Admission is free. The event will include music by DJ John F. Ropper, a 50/50 drawing, a Chinese auction and food for purchase. For information call Sara Delp at 330-337-9503.

Events set at Mahoning library branches

YOUNGSTOWN — The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County will host a number of events at its local branches in June.

— The Sebring Library will hold a DIY Tassel Bookmark event at 2:30 p.m. June 8. Visitors can make their own DIY tassel bookmark, ready for summer reading. Bring own scissors. For adults and teens.

— The Greenford Library will host Porgie the Clown at 11 a.m. June 11 for fantastic, fun-filled entertainment that is absolutely unforgettable. Come see his hilariously funny and amazing comedy magic show and watch him twist balloons into wonderful creations. For children of all ages.

— The Sebring Library will host Outback Ray’s Amazing Animal Show, a fun,exciting and very educational program, at 1 p.m. June 12. The hands-on show is extremely entertaining for children of all ages and the entire family. Visit https://www.outbackray.com/.

— The Sebring Library will host a Light Up the Night with Glow-in-the-Dark Jars event at 2:30 p.m. June 22. Create glow-in-the-dark jars using glow-in-the-dark paint. Materials and snacks will be provided. Space is limited and registration is required. Call 330-744-8636 and ask for the Canfield Library to register. For grades 5 and up.

— The Greenford Library will host a Camping!Camping! Camping! Program at 3 p.m. June 26 featuring camping stories, sing songs, do-a-knot tying activity and S’mores treats in this one-hour program for children of all ages. Preschoolers must attend with an adult.

— The Green Team will offer a Mother Earth and Green Team program at Mahoning County libraries featuring Mother Earth herself reading the book “Dear Children of the Earth” by Schim Schimmel. This powerful and dramatically illustrated letter from Mother Earth to her children is a tender reminder of the responsibility we all have to protect the world in which we live. After reading the book visitors will create earth-friendly crafts made from recovered material. At the conclusion of the program, participants will receive Earth-themed coloring books and recycling information to share with their parents. This program is recommended for children in grades pre-K through 5. The program will be offered at 3 p.m. June 19 at the Greenford Library and 10 a.m. June 27 at the Sebring Library.
