Alumni Association visitors asked to use back door

SALEM–The Salem High School Alumni Association is asking anyone who needs to stop into the offices, to call ahead to be sure the office is open during the construction period that started Monday and will last until approximately Oct. 1. The front door access will be blocked with scaffolding. Visitors are asked to use the back door entrance located in the alley running parallel to the parking lot beside Key Bank. The SHSAA’s phone number is 330-332-1427 and office hours are 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday.

Alans to present program for Salem Public Library

SALEM– The Salem Public Library will host A Magical Universe presented by the Alans at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul School. The Alans provide a high energy show jam packed from start to finish with powerful magic, hilarious audience interaction and memorable moments.

Genetic cancer risks to be discussed at Jewish Center

YOUNGSTOWN– Andrea Trgovich, Area Coordinator, National Lab Services Co., will discuss how genetic testing can help identify certain health risks as well as talk about genetic mutations and how they may increase a person’s risk of developing cancer from noon to 1 p.m. Friday in the Multi-Purpose room of the Jewish Community Center, 505 Gypsy Lane. Salem Public Library to host figure drawing classes

SALEM– Salem Public Library will host a figure drawing class for adults from 2 to 4 p.m. June 23 and 30 in the Quaker Room. Class instructor will be W. Dan Dinsio of Salem. All materials will be provided for the classes that are open to the public and free of cost to attend.

Seating is limited and registration is required and may be done online at www.salem.lib.oh.us or call the library at 330-332-0042 for registration assistance.

Rodeo returning to Hoppel’s Arena July 4 weekend

LISBON–The International Professional Rodeo is back at Hoppel’s Arena at 7 p.m. on July 5 and 6. Hoppel’s Arena is located on the scenic Beaver Creek and has a natural amphitheater setting with comfortable on the lawn seating.

Food vendors on the grounds will be Kettle Corn, Oriental Cuisine, Steak Hoagies, French Fries, Corn Dogs, Iced Cream, Shaved Ice, and new this year is “What’s Grandpa Smokin BBQ?”

Advanced tickets are available for $10 at Lisbon Dairy Queen; local Giant Eagles, Sparkle and Save-A-Lot markets; The Pitt Stop; and Eventbrite.com. Tickets can be purchased at the gate for $15 for adults and $10 for children.

Bring chairs and blankets for comfortable on-the-lawn seating.
