Beloit man charged with drug manufacture
GOSHEN TOWNSHIP- Police Wednesday arrested a Beloit man on felony drug charges after discovering a meth lab at his home with an 8-year-old child in October.
Dennis Porter, 21, 13427 Smith Goshen Road, has been charged with first-degree felony illegal manufacture of drugs, second-degree felony illegal manufacture of drugs and fifth-degree felony possession of drugs (methamphetamines). He was taken into custody on a secret indictment at 9:45 a.m. at his home with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service.
According to Det. Kevin Stratton, police responded to his home in October where Porter’s parents reported a domestic dispute regarding his drug activity, but that he had already left the home. During the investigation, officers uncovered a shake and bake meth lab, the materials of which were seized. There was an 8-year-old child in the home at the time the lab was discovered.
Stratton said he obtained the secret indictment following an investigation through the Mahoning County Drug Task Force.
