Fire destroys Elkrun Twp. home

ROGERS – A home at 9493 Dutchtown School Road in Elkrun Township was burned to the ground early Friday morning.

The Lisbon Fire Department received the call at 2:29 a.m., and the single-story wood-frame house was completely engulfed in flames by the time the first firefighters arrived, according to Chief David Lewton.

Lewton said the unidentified woman who lived there left the scene prior to their arrival and was apparently unharmed. She reported waking up to find flames shooting out of the heat runs in her home, which was heated by a coal furnace.

The home was burned to the basement foundation.

Lisbon responded with 10 firefighters, while the Negley/Rogers Fire Department provided mutual aid.
