3 arrested after drug raid

WELLSVILLE – The county Drug Task Force turned one arrest into three during a visit to the village Wednesday.

One man was arrested in a raid at a Commerce Street home.

DTF agents along with assistance from the county’s special response team, DEA, the state Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification, sheriff’s deputies and Wellsville police served a search warrant at 906 Commerce St., the residence of Taru Smith and Kristy Dillard.

According to Lt. Brian McLaughlin, director of the DTF, $2,000 and a small amount of heroin was seized.

Smith, 35, was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear in court on an original charge of marijuana possession.

Smith was the only adult present during the search, McLaughlin said in a press release.

While at the home, officers noticed that John Dunlap was at a neighboring residence. Dunlap, 30, was wanted on a warrant for assault, and he was placed into custody.

Also during that time, sheriff’s Detective Jeff Haugh received a call of a man acting suspiciously in the neighborhood. Officers made contact with the man, Joseph Blake, 22, of 13th Street Wellsville, who reportedly was found in possession of more than 140 grams of crack cocaine.

Blake, too, was taken into custody and charged with possession of crack cocaine, a first-degree felony.
