Investigation into fire at Legends Bar continues
EAST LIVERPOOL – The investigation is continuing into the July 14 fire that destroyed Legends Bar on Mulberry Street.
Michael Duchesne of the state fire marshal’s office said Wednesday that no cause has yet been determined in the blaze, and he expects the investigation to take some time.
“It’s probably going to take a little bit,” Duchesne said of the investigation.
The city fire department responded to the fire, which blazed out of control for several hours.
Chief Bill Jones turned over the investigation to the state because the bar was a commercial operation, also taking into consideration there had been reports of a drive-by shooting at the establishment in recent months.
Jones said previously, “I wanted to make sure we had the proper resources to do the proper investigation.”
The last major commercial fire the city department fought was the All Sports store on Sixth Street on Oct. 26, 2008, which was also owned by Legends owner Jeff Hall. Hall’s home in Old Farm Village in St. Clair Township also was destroyed by fire in the past.
