Intervention granted for breaking and entering cases

LISBON – John W. Jarvis II, 36, Beech Street, Wellsville, was granted four years of intervention in lieu of conviction in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court. He agreed to plead guilty to breaking and entering, possession of criminal tools and two counts of possession of drugs for heroin and cocaine in his possession on Nov. 11, 2011. According to court documents, Jarvis on Aug. 2, 2012 trespassed into a vacant home on Beech Street while in possession of a homemade ski mask, hammer, pliers, plastic wire cable ties, flashlight and gloves. He had faced up to four years in prison, a six-month license suspension and a $10,000 fine.

William McMillan, 20, Fairfield School Road, Columbiana, was granted four years intervention in lieu of conviction with the first six months to be served at the Eastern Ohio Correctional Center. McMillan pleaded guilty to breaking and entering and receiving stolen property for entering the New Waterford Volunteer Fire Department on Nov. 29. Additionally, the same night, he and two others – Jason Cope and Alex Cook – reportedly took a vehicle stolen from Shane Ryhal, removed the parts from it, drove it to a wooded area near Millrock and Peace Valley roads and set it on fire. McMillan had faced up to two and a half years in prison and a $7,500 fine.

Cope has pleaded guilty to receiving stolen property charges and is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 25. Cook was sentenced two weeks ago to 36 months in prison for a list of theft related crimes, including the one involving the same stolen vehicle, and a felonious assault for attacking a corrections officer.
