Minerva man killed in crash

PARIS – A Minerva man was killed Wednesday in a two-car accident at the intersection of state Route 172 and Whitacre Avenue in Paris Township.

According to the Canton post of the highway patrol, Timothy J. Henderson, 20, was driving a 1968 Volkswagon Beetle north on Whiteacre Avenue around 11:05 a.m. when he failed to yield for the stop sign at Route 172. His vehicle struck the passenger side of a 2013 Buick Lacrosse driven by Jack C. Argabrite, 75, of Lisbon, which was westbound on Route 172.

Henderson was transported to Mercy Medical Center in Canton, where he died of his injuries. Argabrite and his wife, Charlotte, 75, were taken to Mercy Medical Center with minor injuries.

Crews from the Sandy Creek Joint Fire District in Minerva, six state patrol vehicles, as well as additional investigators and troopers were on the scene.

The road was closed for approximately four hours.

Alcohol was not a factor in the crash and seat belts were worn by all occupants, the patrol said.
