Wellsville homes burglary targets

LISBON – Two homes just outside Wellsville were reportedly the targets of at least one burglar on Monday morning. Only one of the two homes was actually entered.

At 11:32 a.m. Monday, Mike Crews, 16 School Road, Wellsville, reported when his wife left at about 7:30 a.m. she saw a suspicious looking man with short brown hair, about 5-foot 6-inches tall walking in the area, wearing a dark gray hoodie with white plaid shorts. Crews then saw the same man in front of a neighbor’s house at 7:40 a.m.

At 8:30 a.m. Crews saw the same person walking on state Route 39 with his hands inside the front pocket of his hoodie. At 11:30 a.m., Crews said he went back home and found someone had broken in through the back window of his home.

He found there was a revolver missing from the master bedroom, along with a tennis bracelet, a diamond necklace with a gold chain, diamond earrings with a gold setting and gold earrings with heart shaped diamonds.

A woman identified by deputies only as Myra on Old Irondale Road, Wellsville, reported at 9:25 a.m. Monday she was asleep on the couch when she was awakened by someone knocking on the back door. When she did not answer, the person reportedly started trying to get inside the back door. She fled out the front door to the neighbor’s house. It did not appear anyone got inside.
