EL man indicted for assault on jail guard

LISBON – Queysean L. Sallis, 18, Jackson Street, East Liverpool, was served with a secret indictment for an assault charge, a fifth-degree felony. Sallis reportedly harmed or attempted to harm a corrections officer, Brent Bergman, at the county jail on Oct. 30, while Sallis was incarcerated here.

Sallis is currently serving time at the Lorain State Prison, where he was served with the indictment. He was sentenced by Judge Scott Washam to five years on Dec. 14 for improper shooting of a firearm into a home and a second count of improper shooting of a firearm in or near a prohibited premise after an errant bullet from a gun fired by Sallis narrowly missed a 3-year-old Wellsville boy in July.

Juan D. Stamps, 35, last known address East Taggart Street, East Palestine, was served a secret indictment for an assault charge, a first-degree misdemeanor. According to court documents Stamps on either Oct. 19 or 20 attempted to harm someone with the initials D.G.

Both indictments were issued by the county grand jury in December.
