– Abby M. Snyder, 28, Main Street, Hanoverton, was driving north on Gavers Road in Hanover Township at 6 a.m. Wednesday and was stopped at the intersection of Gavers Road and U.S. Route 30 when she was rear-ended by Eric S. Cook, 28, Fort Myers, Fla. Cook was cited for assured clear distance.

– Barbara Homan, 76, Riffle Road, Lisbon, was driving south on state Route 164 in Elkrun Township at 7:12 a.m. Wednesday when she lost control on the icy road, hit a sign and a ditch. Homan was cited for failure to control.

– Theodore J. Davis, 41, Chester, W. Va., and a TAS Trucking freightliner driven by Robert Nicodemus, 47, Logantown, Pa., were traveling north on state Route 7 in Liverpool Township at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday when their vehicles hit each other as they passed.

– Daniel B. Jurkiewicz, 30, Apollo Road, Carrollton, was driving east on state Route 172 in West Township at 6:10 a.m. Thursday and was in the process of stopping to make a left turn when he was rear-ended by Jack Hurst, 44, Massillon. Jurkiewicz was taken to Mercy Hospital in Canton for minor injuries. Hurst and his passenger, Patrick Hurst, 17, also of Massillon, were taken to Aultman Hospital for minor injuries. The elder Hurst was cited for assured clear distance.

– Larry Hively, 68, state Route 9, Hanoverton, was driving south on state Route 9 in Butler Township at 1:10 p.m. Thursday when he drove off the right side of the road into a ditch and hit a tree, utility pole and a fence. Hively was cited for failure to control.

– Alek Jay Vanhorn, 18, South Vine Street, Columbiana, was driving north on Lower Elkton Road in Fairfield Township at 9:15 a.m. Saturday when he drove off the road, over corrected, went back on the road, and drove off a second time, then struck a culvert and overturned. Vanhorn was cited for failure to control.

HIGHWAY PATROL

– Vanessa L. Porter, 34, Beaver Street, Lisbon, was eastbound on state Route 172 in Center Township at 9:50 p.m. Sunday and attempted to turn onto Gamble Road and went off the right side into a ditch. Porter was cited for failure to control and taken to St. Elizabeth Medical Center with serious injuries.

– Judith M. Gregory, 67, Jimtown Road, East Palestine, was eastbound on state Route 154 in Middleton Township at 1 p.m. Monday and went off the south side into a ditch. She was cited for failure to control.

– Marcellius L. Taylor, 21, Alliance, was southbound on state Route 45 in Madison Township at 11:50 p.m. Monday and went off the right side into a culvert and over-corrected and went off the leg side into a yard. He was cited for failure to control.

– Jenna Lynn Blackburn, 24, Willard Road, Hanoverton, was eastbound on state Route 518 in Franklin Township at 7:40 a.m. Wednesday and went off the right side into an embankment. She was cited for failure to control.

HIGHWAY PATROL

– Alfred J. Pasini Jr., 61, Warren, and Ashley M. Elkenbary, 18, Morton Street, East Liverpool, were westbound on U.S. 30 in Hanover Township at 10:22 a.m. Friday and Pasini was struck by Elkenbary from behind. Elkenbary was cited for assured clear distance.

– Rose M. Halligan, 74, Harvey Avenue, Lisbon, and another vehicle were westbound on U.S. 30 in Center Township at 11:10 a.m. Friday and Halligan was struck from behind by the vehicle, which continued on after her vehicle went off the road into a ditch.

– Franklin F. Hubbarb, 72, Hazel Run Road, Salineville, was eastbound on state Route 39 in Yellow Creek Township at 10:45 a.m. Friday and went off the left side into a ditch and embankment. He was cited for failure to control.

– Andrea L. Okinis, 69, Lisbon Road, Leetonia, and Andrew J. Billet, 54, Lisbon Road, Leetonia, were southbound on Lisbon Road in Salem Township at 10:55 a.m. Friday and Okinis slid backwards and struck Billet. Okinis was cited for failure to control.

– William F. Lanzendorfer, 70, state Route 164, Leetonia, was southbound on Leetonia Road in Salem Township at noon Friday and went off the right edge into an embankment.

– Alex Medina, 24, Pharr, Texas, was southbound on Mechanicstown Road in Hanover Township at 6:30 a.m. Saturday and went off the right side, over-corrected and went off the left side into a ditch, embankment, and overturned into a tree and came to rest upside down on the right side of the road. Medina was cited for failure to control and taken to Salem Hospital with possible injuries.

– Shane Joshua Linden, 34, Crestview Road, Leetonia, was westbound on Metz Road in Fairfield Township at 1:40 p.m. Saturday and went off the right side into a ditch and got stuck. He was cited for failure to control.

– Ronald J. Bilsky, 43, Columbus, was northbound on Eagleton Road in Salem Township at 2:25 p.m. Saturday and went off the left side into a guardrail face. He was cited for failure to control.

– James P. Brown, 36, Hazel Run Road, Hammondsville, reported he was northbound on state Route 164 in Fairfield Township at 2:30 p.m. Saturday and debris on the road was kicked up and struck the front of his vehicle.

– Travis E. Hickman, 30, U.S. 30, Hanoverton, was westbound on Teegarden Road in Hanover Township at 11:30 p.m. Saturday and went off the right side down an embankment and into some dead trees. He was cited for failure to control.

HIGHWAY PATROL

– Michael A. Henry, 17, Waterford Road, East Palestine, was northbound on state Route 165 in Unity Township at 10:35 p.m. Friday when he swerved to avoid a deer, drove off the right side of the roadway and struck a mailbox and ditch. He was cited with reasonable control.

– Ryan J. Morgan, 24, Monroe Street, East Liverpool, was southbound on U.S. Route 30 in Liverpool Township at 10:16 a.m. March 16 when he failed to negotiate a curve, went off the right side and rolled the vehicle, a Pontiac Grand Am. It continued to roll, striking a culvert and a tree before coming to rest on its roof. Morgan was taken to UPMC in Pittsburgh by STAT Med-Evac with serious injuries.

– Simon H. Miller, 46, Hartville, was backing a trailer owned by Weaver Steel Construction into a private driveway off of state Route 558 in Salem Township at 7:19 a.m. Tuesday when it was struck by a westbound vehicle driven by Michah R. Chamberlain, 37, state Route 558, New Waterford, Chamberlain was cited for assured clear distance.

– Richard Wayne Miller, 53, Duck Creek Road, Salem, was westbound on state Route 558 at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, driving a truck owned by Larry Murphy Dump Truck Inc. of Beloit, when he went off the right side of the roadway into a ditch, overturned and came to rest on the vehicle’s right side. He was cited with failure to maintain reasonable control.

HIGHWAY PATROL

– Thomas E. Shannon, 67, Broadway Avenue, Wellsville, was southbound on state Route 45 in Madison Township at noon Thursday and went off the right side into a ditch and a mailbox. He was cited for failure to control.

– Derrick R. Hunt, 46, Mill Street, Salineville, was southbound on state Route 164 in Fairfield Township at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday and Rachel N. Zubay, 34, Creek Road, New Waterford, was westbound on state Route 558 in Fairfield Township at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday and stopped at a stop sign but then failed to yield when pulling forward and was struck by Hunt. Zubay then went off the left side into a ditch. She was cited for failure to yield and seat belt and taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital with serious injuries. Her passenger, Bobbi Burns, 41, Mill Street, Salineville, and Hunt were also taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital with serious injuries.

– Theresa J. Cusick, 46, Gurlea Street, Hanoverton, was northbound on Woodsdale Road in Butler Township at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday and went off the right side into a ditch and re-entered the road. She was cited for failure to control.

– Harold J. Kibler, 83, Beloit, and John Uzell Austin, 37, Crewe, Va., were eastbound on U.S. 62 in Butler Township at 3 p.m. Tuesday and Austin was struck from behind by Kibler, who was cited for assured clear distance.

– Kristy L. Metze, 34, state Route 154, Rogers, and Mary C. Gilkinson, 59, Old Fredericktown Road, East Liverpool, was northbound on state Route 7 in Fairfield Township at 7 a.m. Monday and Metze stopped for a light and was struck from behind by Gilkinson, who was cited for assured clear distance.

HIGHWAY PATROL

– Brian D. Miller, 51, Memorial Road, Kensington, was northbound on Steubenville Pike in Center Township at 4 p.m. Sunday and went off the left side into some trees. He was cited for failure to control.

– Sandy Martinez, 47, Sparta, N.J., was eastbound in a private drive and lost control and overturned. She was cited for failure to control and taken to East Liverpool Hospital with serious injuries.

– Richard T. Elliot, 67, state Route 517, was westbound on state Route 517 and went off the right side into a ditch. He was cited for failure to control.

HIGHWAY PATROL

– Charges are pending against David L. Valiquette, 47, of New Springfield, who wrecked while driving on state Route 558 at state Route 46 in Unity Township at 10:39 p.m. Tuesday. Valiquette’s pickup ended up on its roof in a creek and he was taken to a local hospital, where he was treated and released. Valiquette told investigators he drank two beers and two rums and Sierra Mist prior to the accident.

– Robert J. Smith II, 28, Cream Ridge Road, Lisbon, was cited for OVI and failure to control after he went off the road and struck some trees while driving on Cream Ridge Road in Elkrun Township at 10:35 a.m. Tuesday. Smith left the scene but returned an hour later and said he swerved to miss a deer. The trooper said Smith had a noticeable odor of alcohol but denied being drunk, although he said it may seem that way. Smith was cited after the trooper received the results of a blood test.

– Brent A. Rose, 48, of Hammondsville, was cited for failure to yield after he struck a vehicle operated by Kevin L. Bishop, 53, Campground Road, Wellsville, at the intersection/curve of state Route 164 and County Road 55 in Brush Creek Township in Jefferson County. The accident occurred at 1:31 p.m. Tuesday.

– Rachel A. Hunter, 31, of Uniontown, was cited for failure to control after she wrecked into a barbed-wire fence on Buffalo Road in West Township at 11:49 p.m. Tuesday. Hunter claimed to have swerved to miss a deer. The fence was on the property of Ervin Hilliard.

– A motorist struck and damaged a railroad crossing gate that was stuck in the down position on state Route 517 in Elkrun Township at 8 a.m Wednesday. The unidentified motorist fled the scene.

– Holly B. Orwig, 20, of Minerva, was cited for failing to stop an assured cleared distance and leaving the scene of an accident after driving into the rear of a stopped SUV operated by Matthew J. Long, 53, U.S. Route 62, Salem. The accident occurred at the intersection of Route 62 and Westville Lake Road at 7:45 a.m. Wednesday in Smith Township, and Orwig continued on Westville Lake with Long in pursuit. The chased reached up to 90 mph before Orwig’s SUV became disabled near Georgetown Road.

– Collin L. Houlette, 18, state Route 154, Lisbon, was cited for failure to yield after he pulled from a private drive onto state Route 45 in Center Township and stuck a car driven by Lee A. Huffman, 54, state Route 172, Lisbon. The accident occurred at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday.

HIGHWAY PATROL

– Raymond D. Messersmith, 47, Midland, Michigan, was eastbound on U.S. 30 in Hanoverton Township at 9:50 a.m. Monday and went off the right side into a guardrail face. He was cited for failure to control.

– Andrew J. Smith, state Route 517, Lisbon, reported to the Salem Police Department at 1 p.m. Saturday his vehicle was stolen from the Side Door Bar. Troopers found the unoccupied vehicle overturned in an embankment off the southbound lane of Cunningham Road in Salem Township at 3:22 a.m. Sunday.

– Austin W. Odell, 16, Jennings Avenue, Salem, was eastbound on Georgetown Road in Butler Township at 10 p.m. Saturday and went off the left side into two mailboxes and posts. He was cited for failure to control.

HIGHWAY PATROL

– Emilio Sente Jaurez, 36, of Canton, was cited for failure to control and driving without a license after going off the road and striking an embankment while driving on Georgetown Road in Butler Township at 12:08 a.m. Saturday. Jaurez said he lost control while swerving to miss a deer, but there was no evidence to support his claim. Jaurez lacked a driver’s license and a green card but did have a Guatemalan identification card. The patrol contacted the local offices of the Border Patrol and Immigration and Customs Enforcement but the federal agencies were not interested in Jaurez since there were no warrants for his arrest. Jaurez, who said he has been living in the country for the past 15 years, was issued his citations and released.

HIGHWAY PATROL

– Edward G. Kolisar, 62, Alliance, was northbound on Rochester Road in Knox Township at 12:55 p.m. Saturday and went off the right side then re-entered the road and went off the left side into a ditch and overturned. He was cited for failure to control and OVI.

– Tyler G. McCullough, 22, Jimtown Road, East Palestine, was southbound on Jimtown Road in Unity Township at 8:45 p.m. Friday and went off the left side into a ditch and continued home. He was later charged with driving under FRA suspension.

– Jeremiah E. Shipley, 31, Apollo Road, Kensington, was southbound on state Route 9 in Butler Township at 10:10 p.m. Friday and went off the right side into a ditch and overturned. He was cited for failure to control.

– Scott A. Bettis, 51, Fifth Street, Salem, was northbound on state Route 9 in Butler Township at 8:15 p.m. Saturday and slid off the left side into a guardrail. He was cited for failure to control.

– David J. Samora, 34, Steubenville Pike, Lisbon, was northbound on Steubenville Pike in Center Township at 8:23 p.m. Saturday and went off the west side into a ditch. He was cited for failure to control, OVI, driving under suspension and open container.

– Donald A. Aeschbascher, 50, Vale Road, Rogers, was northbound on Adams Road in Middleton Township at 5:40 p.m. Sunday and went off the right side over an embankment and overturned. He was cited for failure to control.

– Cheyanne B. Gostey, 17, East Lincoln Way, Lisbon, was southbound on state Route 45 in Salem Township at 9:59 p.m. Saturday and went off the right side into a ditch and overturned. She was cited for failure to control.

HIGHWAY PATROL

– Clarence E. Corbin, 19, Darlington, Pa., was eastbound on Darlington Road in Middleton Township at 1:16 a.m. Wednesday and went off the north side into a ditch, an embankment and a tree. Corbin was ejected and taken to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center with serious injuries.

– Russell E. Hammond, 67, state Route 517, Lisbon, was westbound on U.S. 30 in Hanover Township at 9:20 a.m. March 2 and was struck by Natalie M. Kee, 29, state Route 9, Kensington, who was eastbound and went left of center after losing control on snow. She was cited for failure to control and taken to Aultman Hospital with minor injuries.

– Brian K. Little, 47, Annesley Road, East Liverpool, was stopped eastbound on Cameron Road in Middleton Township at 2 p.m. Wednesday assisting a disabled vehicle and his vehicle was struck from behind by Joanne Daniels, Nicholson Road, Wellsville. Daniels was cited for assured clear distance.

HIGHWAY PATROL

– Tracey J. Rubio, 47, Massillon, was driving west on state Route 172 in Hanover Township at 9:10 a.m. March 2 when she slid off the right side of the snow-covered road, hitting three road signs and two trees. Rubio and her passenger, Evan Kyles, 34, also of Massillon, were taken to Affinity Medical Center in Massillon with minor injuries. She was cited for failure to control.

– William F. Young, 45, Lindesmith Road, Hanoverton, was driving west on Speidel Road in Hanover Township at 5:25 p.m. Thursday when an unknown driver, believed a maroon Chevrolet HHR, traveling east went left of center and forced Young off the right side of the road and hit an embankment.

– Edward P. Shields, Jr., 63, Pittsburgh, Pa., was driving east on state Route 14 in Salem Township at 3:03 p.m. Friday when he lost control and struck a guardrail, and then drove off the right side of the road and struck a fence and railroad tie at the Van Pelt Farm Market. Shields was cited for failure to control.

HIGHWAY PATROL

– While eastbound on state Route 172, a vehicle driven by David A. Baker, 59, state Route 172, Hanoverton, reportedly went left of center, striking a westbound Mack truck driven by William K. Tahon, 51, Pittsburgh. Upon impact, both vehicles went off the road, striking embankments on opposite sides of the roadway. Baker was transported by KLG ambulance to Salem Community Hospital and was cited for a lanes of travel violation.

– A northbound vehicle driven by Susan T. English, 45, state Route 45, Lisbon, reportedly went off the right side of state Route 45, came back up onto the road, crossed the center line and went off the left side, striking a speed limit sign and pole. A trooper arrived on the scene to find the vehicle over the embankment and another one with a chain attached, attempting to pull it from the bank. English said her fiance, Steven B. Joy, was driving, but he gave a statement saying she called to tell him she had crashed her car and needed help. English told the trooper she was at work in Wellsville but left and went to her aunt’s house, where she had had two sips of beer and that she was on several medications, including vicodin. English also did not have a valid license but reportedly said she had to drive in order to work. She was cited for OVI and failure to control.

– While southbound on Fairfield School Road, Peter J. Sustar, 41, Butler, Pa., pulled the Freightliner truck he was driving from a stop sign into the path of a vehicle driven west on state Route 558 by Kevin W. Rice, 36, state Route 558, New Waterford. Sustar was cited for the stop sign violation, and Rice was transported to Beaver Medical Center by his wife for a visible injury to his left arm.

– Michael A. Ferro, 19, Davnor Road, Lisbon, was southbound on Bluff Street in Center Township when his vehicle slid off the road into a concrete barrier. He was cited for failure to control.

– Clinton T. Standish, 24, Columbus, was eastbound on state Route 172 when he lost control of his vehicle, which slid left of center, striking a westbound vehicle driven by Sarah A. Weddell, 26, Camp Boulevard, Hanoverton. Weddell and her two passengers, Laura Weddell, 50, and David Ward, 27, of the same address, were transported to Salem Community Hospital by Maple-Cotton ambulance. Standish was cited for failure to control.

– While westbound on state Route 14, a vehicle driven by Nicholas A. Bryan, 25, state Route 7, New Waterford, was struck by the snow blade on a truck driven by Richard W. Rubeck, 76, Columbiana-Canfield Road, Columbiana, who was turning onto state Route 14 from a private drive. Rubeck was cited for a lanes of travel violation.

– Matthew R. Ayers, 22, Westline Avenue, Lisbon, was northbound on state Route 164 when he reportedly failed to negotiate a curve, causing his vehicle to go off the road and strike a pole. He was taken by helicopter to St. Elizabeth Medical Center and was cited for no seat belt and failure to control.

HIGHWAY PATROL

– Zakary Dorr, 18, Depot Road, Lisbon, was driving east on state Route 172 in Hanover Township at 10:50 a.m. Thursday when he lost control, drove off the right side of the road and struck a tree. Passengers Josh Killing, 18, Cullea Street, Hanoverton and Kasen Smith, 18, King Road, Salem, were not injured. Dorr, who was treated at the scene by Hanover Fire and Rescue for minor injuries, was cited for failure to control.

– Mincie Fluharty, 26, Center Street, Leetonia, was driving northeast on Lisbon Road in Salem Township at 11:25 a.m. Thursday when she lost control of her vehicle, drove off the left side of the road and hit a guardrail before hitting a ditch. Fluharty was cited for failure to control.

– Mitchel Talbot, 26, Alliance, was driving west on Carey Road in Butler Township at 3:44 p.m. Thursday when he hit Robert McPherson, 56, Second Street, Hanoverton, who was at a stop sign on Slater Road attempting to cross. McPherson was cited for failure to yield.

– Robert Hammell, 60, Monroe Avenue, Salem, was driving east on state Route 558 in Salem at 4:20 p.m. Thursday when he lost control and drove off the right side of the road and struck a ditch. Hammell was cited for failure to control. The passenger, Pamela Hammell, 59, same address, was taken to Salem hospital for minor injuries.

HIGHWAY PATROL

– Zachary T. Grimes, 21, state Route 164, Hanoverton, was southbound on state Route 45 in Salem Township at 2:10 a.m. Feb. 20 and lost control attempting to pass another vehicle and went off the left side into a rock. He was cited for failure to control and OVI.

– Jeremy L. Abels, 41, River Road, East Liverpool, was southbound on state Route 11 in Elkrun Township at 3:45 p.m. Feb. 21 and went off the right side into a guardrail and overturned and came to rest in the median. He was cited for failure to control and taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital with serious injuries.

– Ronald L. Hall, 44, Cherry Fork Road, Leetonia, was southbound on state Route 164 in Center Township at 10:58 p.m. Feb. 21 and slid on ice off the left side into a ditch.

– Dennis J. Edmond, 58, Irondale, was recently cited for OVI for the Jan. 29 accident in Yellow Creek Township at midnight in which he went off the right side of state Route 39 and into a guardrail.

– Phillip R. Bolan, 19, Mill Street, Rogers, was westbound on state Route 154 in Elkrun Township at 8 a.m. Wednesday and slid off the right side into a guardrail. He was cited for failure to control.

– Devin E. Baker, 29, McClure Road, East Palestine, was eastbound on Latta Road in Unity Township at 12:10 p.m. Feb. 18 and went off the left side into a fence and a utility pole and continued westbound. He was later cited for failure to control.
