Evidence ordered released
LISBON – A former Beaver Local substitute teacher accused of sending cellphone photos of male genitalia to an 11-year-old girl appeared before Judge Carol Robb Tuesday in Columbiana County Municipal Court.
James Hartford, the attorney of Chad R. Grey, 27, Gilson Avenue, East Liverpool, has been requesting additional evidence from Assistant County Prosecutor Don Humphrey, filing a motion to compel the evidence in the case.
According to Humphrey, some of the requested evidence were files found on Grey’s computer, iPhone and LG phone which were seized by a search warrant. Additionally, Hartford has requested information on the backgrounds of the two people from the Bureau of Criminal Information and Investigation, who analyzed the equipment.
Humphrey told Robb the computerized information, which is more than 15 gigabytes of data, will be made available to Hartford soon. He has asked Hartford to provide DVDs and a flash drive so the information can be copied for him. Then it will be only a matter of someone more technical than himself transferring the files.
Robb gave Hartford seven days to provide the needed items and Humphrey 30 days to get the files copied and returned to Hartford.
An additional pretrial has been scheduled for June 30.
Grey is charged with disseminating matter harmful to children, a first-degree misdemeanor.
