Salem woman sentenced for credit card theft

LISBON – Charitey A. Riggs, 20, of Salem, was sentenced in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court on Thursday to 16 months in prison, but granted credit against those months for 367 days already served.

Riggs, whose last known address was on North Ellsworth Avenue, had previously pleaded guilty to misuse of credit cards, forgery and two counts of theft in two separate cases.

Court documents state she had a wallet containing a Visa card belonging to James Shearer on April 4, 2013 and the next day she used the credit card for her own purchase. On Feb. 26, 2013 Riggs took a check belonging to Rebecca Simpson and forged the check the next day.
