Lightning blamed in May fire at Westville Lake business

KNOX TWP. – Lightning is the determined cause of a fire that damaged a Westville Lake area business last month.

According to North Georgetown Fire Chief Ed Reichenbach, the department’s investigation concluded that Alliance Technical Services at 27171 U.S. Route 62 just east of the Westville Lake Road intersection was struck by lightning during a thunderstorm the night of May 14.

Traffic was diverted for several hours while firefighters battled the blaze. In addition to North Georgetown, the Beloit, Damascus, Homeworth and Sebring fire departments and Goshen Township, Smith Township and Sebring police departments also responded.

The building was unoccupied at the time of the fire.

The technical personnel business was owned by the late Jerry Klusch of Center Township and is currently owned by the Klusch family and operated by his son, Ryan Klusch of Canton.
