Salem Township residents warned of possible scammers

SALEM TWP. – Salem Township Constable Dan Valentine issued a report Saturday that people attempting to sell educational materials door-to-door in the area were not representing Leetonia schools as they allegedly claimed.

The report said the department received numerous calls and complaints regarding the people going door-to-door on Grafton Road, Leetonia Road, Lisbon-Canfield Road and most recently, Jersey Ridge Road, on Friday and Saturday.

Several callers reported the vehicle was a tan Honda with Texas license plates.

The report said Valentine spoke to Leetonia Schools Superintendent Rob Mehno and he confirmed that the Leetonia schools were not soliciting and the people in question were not working on the school system’s behalf

Leetonia Police Chief John Soldano was contacted Saturday, but said he had no solicitation reports like that in the village.
