POLICE REPORTS

COLUMBIANA

–Police were asked to check on the well being of a Bayshore Drive resident at 12:42 p.m. Friday and everything was fine.

–Robert Dugan of Columbiana Tire reported Friday a license plate was missing from a vehicle in his lot and it may have been stolen.

–A Columbiana school official called at 12:51 p.m. Friday to report a student signed himself out but they are unable to locate him.

–Tim and Nicole Spiker were served Friday with paperwork charging them for failing to file a city income tax return.

–Eugene Baker, Hawkins Lane, was charged Friday with failing to file a city income tax return.

LISBON

–Terry Lewis, 36, East Lake Road, Lisbon, was cited for OVI following a traffic stop on East Lincoln Way at 2:20 a.m. Saturday.

SALEM

— Police responded to the 300 block of West Pershing Street on Friday afternoon where a woman said there were two pit bulls on their property pulling on something and they realized it was one of their cats, which had been killed by the dogs. The dogs left when they got out of the car and ran toward a green-colored house on West Wilson Street. The complainant advised they knew who owned the dogs and will come in to the police department and fill out statements to be sent to the county prosecutors office.

— At 1:21 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 800 block of Aetna Street for a neighbor dispute over a driveway easement and both were advised to stay off the other’s side.

— Police patrolling in the East State Street and Lincoln Avenue area at 11:55 a.m. Friday approached Lincoln Avenue from the east and observed a male subject on the southside of the road waving down traffic in the eastbound lane and yelling and screaming at them. One vehicle stopped then continued eastbound when he suddenly walked out into the eastbound lane, stopping another vehicle and yelling at it. The man proceeded northbound through the westbound lanes making them stop. The traffic light was red for the eastbound traffic and was moving forward at a slow speed. Police attempted to move into the left turn lane on East State Street heading west and went around a car into the lane when another vehicle came down the turn lane heading westbound. Both vehicles met in the turn lane, side swiping each other. The right front bumper area of a pickup went up against the left front of the driver’s side of the other vehicle. There was no damage or injuries. The people in the other vehicle advised they knew what the officer was doing and were afraid something might happen to the male subject. The male subject told police he would call for his own ambulance and left. Police went to Smith Oil where he supposedly went and he was located on East State Street heading toward Brooklyn Avenue and he advised he would walk to the hospital. He said he thought he was fine and could make it to the hospital.

— At 12:53 a.m. Saturday, police in the Vine Avenue and East 3rd Street area and stopped elderly woman from Akron who was lost. Relatives responded to take charge of her.

— At 1:26 a.m. Saturday, police responded to north Broadway Avenue near East 2nd Street where a boat on a trailer was in the road. A male subject said a man with a small truck attempted to take the boat but left the area. The man said he knew who owned it but the registration did not have the owner’s name. The boat and trailer were towed away.

— At 3:29 a.m. Saturday, police responded to the 100 block of South Broadway Avenue where a man was passed out or sleeping on a bench. He was intoxicated and a cab took him home.

— At 3:58 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 800 block of East 3rd Street to assist an ambulance and were advised that everything was OK.

— At 11:37 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 800 block of Homewood Avenue where security lights flashed in the home across from the complainants. Police checked and everything was OK.

— At 5:19 p.m. Friday, Michael S. Heverly, 2236 N. Ellsworth Ave. was charged with domestic violence. The female complainant was visibly shaken and stated she slipped and fell into a screen door causing a large bruise. The male subject said he pushed her up steps but didn’t touch her beyond that, several witnesses stated he pushed her into the screen door then dragged her back inside. A neighbor said she was lying on the ground crying and he was yelling at her. Heverly was taken to the county jail.

— At 10:09 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 100 block of Sharp Avenue for a report of a suspicious vehicle but were unable to locate it.

— Police responded to the area of the 900 block of West State Street at 11:19 p.m. Friday after receiving a call from the highway patrol about a vehicle being operated in a reckless manner heading toward the city. The vehicle was gone when police arrived.

— At 8:19 p.m. Friday, police responded to Woodland Avenue where woman said a dog was struck by a vehicle but she was unable to locate it. Police checked the area but were unable to locate anything.

— Police  responded to the Southeast Boulevard and East State Street intersection at 11:22 a.m. Oct. 18 for a two-vehicle accident. The vehicle operated by Nicole L. Lee, 512 Cherry St., Salem, struck the vehicle operated by Wayne W. Hays, 356 Columbia St., Salem, turning into his path after turning left from East State Street onto Southeast Boulevard. Both drivers were taken to the hospital in separate ambulances and Lee was cited for failure to yield. Both vehicles had disabling damage.
