SALEM

— Daniel J. Jackson, 34, of 501 Continental Drive, was taken into custody at 1:57 p.m. Thursday on a warrant out of Lake County for failure to appear. Police had gone to the residence to attempt to serve the warrant. After being processed, Jackson was taken to the Columbiana County jail to await extradition to Lake County.

— A woman in the 500 block of Continental Drive reported at 1:38 p.m. Thursday that she’s been involved in an on-again, off-again relationship with a man who resides with her and on Thursday, he began arguing with her while she was babysitting a 3-year-old, striking her in the left forearm, bicep and shoulder area while she was attempting to get away from him. She left the residence to take the child back home and came to the police department. Information was gathered for the prosecutor’s office to review for possible charges.

–An officer at the scene of an incident on South Lincoln Avenue at 9:40 p.m. Wednesday had another incident occur with a vehicle passing by. Officers stopped the vehicle and the juvenile who committed the offense was advised of charges.

— A woman in the 400 block of Aetna Street reported at 8:39 p.m. Wednesday that someone made a false social media account and was threatening her, claiming to be outside her residence. No one was found.

— Officers at 8:22 p.m. Wednesday checked the length of West State Street for a reckless pickup heading toward Salem on U.S. Route 62, but did not locate the vehicle.

— An officer and K-9 Simon responded to the area of South Lincoln Avenue near the city limits at 8:18 p.m. Wednesday to assist Perry Township Police. K-9 Simon was deployed and indicated to the presence of narcotic odor, with the Perry officer recovering contraband.

— Police responded at 4:47 p.m. Wednesday to the 100 block of East Fifth Street for a dispute between a property owner and resident. Officers were advised the dispute was over money owed. Both parties were told it’s civil and officers also told the property owner that he can’t harass his tenants and what his rights were. He left and officers made sure everything was good.

— An officer and K-9 Simon responded to assist Goshen Township Police with a traffic stop on state Route 14 near the city limits at 4:31 p.m. Wednesday. K-9 Simon was deployed and did not indicate to any narcotics.

— Three unattended juveniles were reported at 4:18 p.m. Wednesday in a vehicle in the Giant Eagle area parking lot on East State Street, but the vehicle left before officers arrived.

— Pure Pet owner Emily Ellsworth called police at 3:24 p.m. Wednesday for a vehicle parked in the 100 block of Penn Avenue in front of her business since Tuesday. She was concerned the vehicle might be broken down.

— Police were called at 2:50 p.m. Wednesday to the 1200 block of Carole Drive where a moving van delivering a load of furniture to an address struck a street light pole on the north side of the driveway, breaking the pole off at the ground, smashing the light and leaving a downed live wire. The city electrician disconnected the wires and Ohio Edison arrived to remove the pole. The driver was from Florida.

— Michiko Dickey, 83, of South Lincoln Avenue, was cited for failure to yield after her vehicle traveling on South Madison Avenue failed to yield and proceeded through the intersection at East Pershing Street, getting struck by a westbound vehicle on Pershing driven by Barbara J. Hendricks, 70, of South Union Avenue. KLG responded after Hendricks indicated neck pain, but she refused treatment.

— An officer was requested at 1:58 p.m. Wednesday to return a call from a male about an incident that allegedly occurred two years ago. Dispatch advised the male said over the phone that two young children known to him were sexually assaulted and that their mother received $2,000 not to report it. When the officer called the male back to inquire about the incident, the male said nothing occurred two years ago and he was wrong to call and report it. He appeared to not be making sense and seemed very confused. The officer spoke with an employee of Children Services about the incident.

— A man whose address was listed as Dayton came to the police station at 1:40 p.m. Wednesday to report something he thought was suspicious during his visit to an auto parts store. He was speaking to a female cashier about parts he needed for a motor vehicle and he said the cashier advised him that her boyfriend was seeking the same parts that the male had previously taken off a vehicle. He thought it was suspicious that the cashier knew the exact parts he had already removed before coming to the store.

— Police were called at 1 p.m. Wednesday for a suspicious person at Roosevelt Avenue and East Third Street where a woman wearing red pants and pushing a stroller appeared confused. An officer made contact to check her well-being and she said she was ok but had been confused about which direction to walk in order to get home. She said she didn’t need anything and knew the correct direction.

— A bicycle was recovered in the 100 block of Hawley Avenue at 12:35 p.m. Wednesday located behind Stark Memorial Funeral Home. The fire department transported the bicycle back to the police station.

— A resident in the 500 block of East Sixth Street reported at 11:06 a.m. Wednesday that a black Chevy Cavalier was parked too close to his driveway, making it hard for him to enter or exit. Officers were unable to locate the owner after several attempts and left a parking citation on the windshield.

— Police responded at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday to the 300 block of North Madison Avenue for a domestic, finding that an adult son and father had a verbal dispute. The father left before police arrived.

–Lisa Higgins, 21, of Salineville, was cited for assured clear distance ahead after her southbound vehicle struck the rear of another southbound vehicle which had stopped for traffic on South Lincoln Avenue at 2:51 p.m. Monday. The other vehicle was driven by Kristina Fusillo, 19, of North Jackson.

LISBON

— East Liverpool police called at 8:38 p.m. Wednesday seeking assistance with a combative prisoner being transported to the county jail. The prisoner had broken out the glass out of a pair of glasses and was cutting himself and threatening others in the jail parking lot. Lisbon police assisted in removing the prisoner from the cruiser and remained until an ambulance arrived to transport the person to a local hospital.

— A clerk at the Circle K reported someone tried to steal a Four Loko by pouring the alcoholic energy drink in a Polar Pop cup at the Circle K at 12:44 a.m. Thursday. The person left in a silver Focus before police arrived.

—  Bobby Tinney reported Jay Farrow was harassing people at the Lisbon Laundromat at 10:42 p.m. Wednesday. Police went to Farrow’s apartment on East Lincoln Way and told him leave the laundromat people alone or he would be arrested.

— Jen McCarty, Sherman Street, reported Oct. 11 her sons’ bicycles were stolen from the back yard.

— A caller reported a car door was open at a Maple Street residence and someone was lying down in the seat with the door open at 5:19 p.m. Monday. The car was parked on private property and the person was talking with another person.

— A caller reported there was a dog running loose at the old elections board office at 11:18 a.m. Wednesday. Police found a pit bull in the alley and it began to growl and bark as the officer approached. The county dog warden arrived and opened the door to the apartment for the dog, and it was determined the dog belonged to Chad Brewer.

— Jonathan R. Croft, 38, Cream Ridge Road, Lisbon, was cited for assured cleared distance after he drove into the rear of stopped vehicle operated by Terri L. Jenkins, 45, Cannons Mill Road, East Liverpool, on East Lincoln Way at 6:21 p.m. Oct. 13.

COLUMBIANA

— Police stood by at Boardman Steel at 8 a.m. Wednesday while woman retrieved her phone that she had reported stolen.

— A man reported at 10:12 a.m. Wednesday the railroad crossing gates were malfunctioning at the Metz Road crossing. Police notified the railroad company of the complaint.
