POLICE REPORTS

SALEM

— Officers responded to a report of open burning in the 1000 block of Cleveland Street at 1:58 p.m. Saturday and spoke to the homeowner who agreed to extinguish the fire.

— A patrolling officer observed a man burning a pile of wood behind his residence in the 900 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 2:40 p.m. Saturday. He was warned about the open burning laws and told to extinguish the fire.

— Police responded with first responders to a Washington Avenue home at 4:51 p.m. Saturday to check on a woman who had texted someone to say she had ingested a large quantity of pills. The woman admitted to the fact and was transported by ambulance to the Salem hospital.

— Officers responded to the Salem Public Library parking lot at 7:16 p.m. Saturday where an East Fifth Street resident reported a man had yelled at him and shoved him in the chest while he was picking up personal items from his ex-girlfriend’s Ohio Avenue home. The man admitted yelling at the complainant, but denied pushing him.

— Christian Candle, 22, West Garfield Road, Salem, was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign following a traffic stop at Washington Avenue and Oak Street at 7:56 p.m. Saturday. The K-9 officer detected possible narcotics, although none were found.

— A patrolling officer observed an altercation in the roadway in the 500 block of South Broadway Avenue at 12:56 a.m. Sunday and found it had started in a nearby business and was verbal only

— Officers responded with first responders and ambulance to a 900 block Prospect Street home at 2:46 a.m. Sunday where a woman had contacted dispatch to say she did not feel well then hung up. Attempts to reconnect with the woman were unsuccessful. The officers spoke with the woman’s roommate and found she was not there. They were unable to find the woman in the area, either.

— Officers responded to a Hawley Avenue home at 4:35 a.m. Sunday where a 9-year-old girl reported waking up to find her grandmother missing. The grandmother was found attempting to sleep on the couch.

Columbiana

— Crystal Siembida-Boggs, Fairfield Avenue, reported a barking dog from the neighbor’s house at 9:09 a.m. Friday. The owner of the dog, Paul Morris, has been previously warned and a citation was issued.
