SALEM

— A resident in the 2400 block of Lexington Avenue called at 1:51 a.m. Tuesday to report suspicious activity, saying she heard a crashing sound on the first floor of her residence while she was sleeping and believed someone was inside. Officers checked the residence and found everything secure.

— An officer on patrol at 1:42 a.m. Tuesday on Continental Drive near Donnell Ford saw a truck that was part of the dealership’s inventory parked in the lot with the lights on after closing hours. The vehicle was found secure with the engine off and nobody inside.

— Police responded to a residence in the 300 block of West Ninth Street at 10:41 p.m. Monday, along with fire department first responders and EMT Ambulance, for an alleged drug overdose. The suspect was unresponsive and was provided multiple doses of the overdose reversal drug Narcan before being transported to Salem Regional Medical Center by EMT. During the investigation, a baggie with a white powder substance and a spoon with a clear crystal-like substance were located near the suspect. These items were seized and will be sent to the Bureau of Criminal Investigation for testing. Charges are pending.

— A male came to the police station at 8:24 p.m. Monday with several questions and information pertaining to possible illegal circumstances in the city. Officers will follow up.

— Police were called at 7:48 p.m. Monday to the 200 block of East State Street for a stolen vehicle report. A man said he just parked a 2002 Ford Escort that belongs to his girlfriend and entered his uncle’s apartment. His uncle went to borrow the car and it was not there. The man said he had the keys and the vehicle must have been stolen. He said the vehicle is registered to a female known to his girlfriend but they are making the payments on the vehicle. An officer later found that the vehicle had been repossessed by the dealership where it was purchased. The registered owner was advised where the car was located. The report referred to a previous complaint filed at 6:15 p.m. Monday by a woman on Bentley Drive claiming unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. She said she gave her vehicle to a person under a verbal contract that the person would take over the payments to the dealership. She was notified by the dealership that the payments had not been made and she was responsible for paying. She was told it was a civil matter.

— A driver whose vehicle had sat through four green light cycles at the traffic signal at West State Street and Howard Avenue Monday evening was transported to Salem Regional Medical Center for a possible medical issue after police were called to the scene at 7:20 p.m. The vehicle was facing north on Howard at the traffic light and was not proceeding even though the light was green. The driver was alert but there were some indicators consistent with possible impaired driving, although other indicators were not present, such as a lack of any odor of alcoholic beverage. Due to a possible medical issue, fire department first responders and an ambulance were requested. The person gave permission for an officer to move the vehicle to a nearby gas station parking lot and secure it.

— A 911 hangup call was reported at 7:02 p.m. Monday in the 400 block of Continental Drive. A man contacted said he did not make the call and there was no problem. Two other residents also said there was no problem. The area was quiet with nothing suspicious located.

— Police were dispatched at 5:43 p.m. Monday to Salem Common Apartments on Lexington Avenue for a suspicious vehicle. Two males were sitting inside the vehicle for 15 minutes. Police located the vehicle but no occupants were inside.

— A man in the 200 block of Vine Avenue reported at 4:41 p.m. Monday that while he was at the alley and Hawley, a white vehicle with a plastic-covered back window pulled up. A female driver and a male that used to live in the apartments started a confrontation. The man believed to have seen the male holding a pistol, then the vehicle drove off. The incident is under investigation. A female caller from the same area reported harassment at 3:51 p.m. Monday, saying she believed a former resident at the apartments had been calling and leaving threatening messages.

— A caller in the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue reported at 3:44 p.m. Monday that someone was blowing grass into the road. Police responded to the area but observed no violations.

— Perry Township Trustee Don Rudibaugh, who’s running for re-election, reported at 2:14 p.m. Monday that several of his political signs have been taken from yards throughout the city. He reported the same to Perry Township Police around the same time, saying multiple political signs were being removed from the West Pidgeon Road area.

— A dog at large was reported at 10:29 a.m. Monday in the 700 block of Prospect Avenue where two females on a front porch said the dog was very energetic. The pit bull type dog was on the front porch and appeared to be fine, with a red collar. The humane officer was on her way to pick up the dog.

— A resident in the 1200 block of East Third Street reported at 9:07 a.m. Monday that two pumpkins were stolen from his yard decorations overnight.

— A woman on Prospect Street reported at 7:51 p.m. Monday that her husband left a cell phone outside by their grill while they were cooking. When they were about to eat inside, her husband returned to the grill to retrieve the cell phone and it was missing.

— A man on Manor Drive reported at 7:10 p.m. Monday that he received a call that his grandson needed him to send him $10,000 in store gift cards so he could pay off court costs and fines he received earlier that day in Memphis, Tenn. The man did what was asked, but wanted to talk to an officer because when he called his daughter in Phoenix, Ariz. after the transfer, she said his grandson had been home at a school event in Arizona. Police told him to try to cancel the gift cards and talk to his bank. An investigation is ongoing.

— Police responded to the residence of a business owner on Idaho Avenue at 12:45 p.m. Monday after a caller said people had responded to the local business in the 1100 block of West State Street and found the mailbox appeared to be overflowing with mail and contact could not be made with the owner of the business. Contact was made with the owner and he said everything was fine.

— Police were asked at 10:16 p.m. Sunday to assist Salem units attempting to locate a vehicle stolen from the inside the city, but the vehicle was not located.

–Police responded to Cunningham Road to assist Salem Police in locating a female walking on foot at 3:34 p.m. Sunday who had possibly stolen medication from Walmart. She was not located.

— A man from the 2200 block of North Ellsworth Avenue reported at 1:30 p.m. Sunday that he saw two males walking on his property and when he asked them what they were doing, they flipped him off and walked away. Police made contact with the two males on Heritage Lane where they said they were visiting their parents and just walking over to look at the neighbor’s horse. They said they wouldn’t go back on the property.
