SALEM
— Officers responded to a 1000 block East Third Street home at 8:10 a.m. Saturday where the resident reported a large sum of cash had been stolen by someone he was letting live at the home. The other person denied taking the money.
— Officers responded to a 200 block South Howard Avenue home at 1:58 p.m. Saturday in reference to a dispute between parents and their adult son. The parents said their son had been upset and throwing items around the house, but that no physical violence had occurred. All individuals were calm before officers cleared.
— An officer responded to a 400 block East School Street home at 2:24 p.m. Saturday where the resident reported his girlfriend had taken several sleeping pills and was vomiting. The girlfriend was transported by ambulance to the Salem hospital.
— An officer responded to a building in the 700 block of East State Street at 3:10 p.m. Saturday where the occupant said he thought he heard a side door closing while he was inside. The officer searched the building but found nothing suspicious.
— Officers responded to an 1100 block East State Street business at 5:25 p.m. Saturday in reference to a vehicle in the parking lot for over an hour and refusing to leave after being given a 15-minute warning. The occupants said they had purchased some items and one of them was waiting for money to transfer to a bank account.
— Officers responded to a 500 block Columbia Street home at 5:39 p.m. Saturday where the resident reported someone posted threatening comments toward him on a social media site. The other person admitted posting the comments, but said they were in response to the complainant’s harassment. She was then transported by ambulance to the Salem hospital after making threats to harm herself.
— Joshua B. Peterson, 27, Aetna Street, Salem, was charged with obstructing official business, domestic violence, resisting arrest and possession of marijuana after officers saw him exit his home and return inside upon seeing the cruiser. The officers identified a vehicle parked at the home to be one involved in a hit and skip crash earlier in the evening, but Peterson refused to answer the door when they attempted to contact him and made an obscene gesture toward them. Officers later returned when Peterson’s mother returned home from work and confronted him about the damage to the vehicle, at which time he threw a cup at her, injuring her arm. He refused to cooperate with officers when they attempted to place him the cruiser and again when they attempted to remove him from the vehicle. A search of his person yielded a small baggie containing marijuana.
Columbiana
— Dalton E. Sherrill, 20, of Negley, was cited for failure to yield the right of way and open container following a traffic stop in Village Plaza at 12:29 a.m. Saturday. The report contained no other details.
— The door of a recently vacated apartment on West Park Avenue was found kicked in on Saturday. This was after the recently departed tenant left a note telling the landlord a new lock set was needed.
— Nicole Miller, Kingwood Avenue, reported Saturday who ex-boyfriend from Boardman showed up and was pounding on the door. The ex was gone by the time police arrived.
— Brenda Bruderly, 67, of Columbiana, was cited for failure to control following a hit/skip accident on South Vine Street at 6:35 p.m. Friday. The report contained no other details.
— Police responded to a traffic crash on North Main Street at 6:17 p.m. Friday involving two vehicles that sustained minimal damage, so citations were issued. The report did not identify either driver or any details on what happened.
