HIGHWAY PATROL

— While northbound Dec. 25 on state Route 45, Ciera J. Maple, 23, Main Street, Wellsville, was traveling around a curve when she said a large southbound pickup truck entered her lane. She swerved, losing control of her vehicle, which went off the road, striking an embankment and overturning onto its roof. The West Point Fire Department and North Star Critical Care ambulance also responded, and she was transported by North Star to Salem Regional Medical Center.

— Terry A. Michael, 46, Denver Street, East Liverpool, was southbound on Township Line Road Dec. 23 when he failed to negotiate a curve, went off the left side of the road, down an embankment and struck an electric fence, where his pickup truck became stuck. He told troopers the accident occurred at 2 a.m. and a passerby picked him up and took him home. He was cited for failure to control.

— McKenzie E. Meade, 16, Walnut Street, Leetonia, was driving southeast on Butcher Road in Salem Township Dec. 27 when she went off the road, striking a pole and overturning. Leetonia EMS responded and checked her passenger Alexander Meade, 14, same address, who bumped his head. His mother signed a refusal for further treatment. Meade was cited for failure to control.

— Jonathan W. Jones, 22, Leetonia Road, Leetonia, was northbound on Old Route 558 in Salem Township Dec. 28 when he failed to maintain control, going off the left side and striking a ditch. He was cited for failure to control.

— While eastbound on state Route 172 Dec. 25, Erica F. McCoy, 17, state Route 154, Lisbon, lost control of her vehicle, driving left of center. Her vehicle went off the left side of the road, striking an embankment and overturning onto its top. She was cited for failure to control.

— While southbound on state Route 267 in Madison Township Dec. 25, Marc D. Hinkle, 47, St. Clair Avenue, East Liverpool, failed to maintain control of his vehicle while attempting to turn left onto the on-ramp to U.S. Route 30, striking a parked tractor-trailer. He was cited with failure to control.

— Christine M. Golec, 54, Youngstown, was eastbound on state Route 14 Dec. 25 when her vehicle slid off the right side of the roadway, coming to rest in a ditch. Columbiana Police Department, Fire Department and EMS also responded, and Golec and her passenger, Michael R. Golec, 67, same address, were treated at the scene by EMS.

— While eastbound on Tower Road Dec. 25, Erica E. Johnson, 21, Valley Road, Salem, drove off the right side, causing her truck to rotate counter-clockwise down an embankment, where it struck a fence. She was cited for failure to control.

— Erin N. McGuire, 28, Gavers Road, Hanoverton, was charged with failure to control, possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana paraphernalia following an accident at 11:53 p.m. Dec. 23 on Lisbon Road. According to reports, her vehicle went off the right side of the road, striking a rock bed, crossing over a private drive, striking another rock bed and striking a tree. She reportedly left the scene with the son of the property owners, who later gave a written statement in which he said an intoxicated female knocked on the door after wrecking into his parents’ property. He reported being able to smell the alcohol and, due to the driver having facial injuries, and not knowing they had 911 service, took her to Salem Regional Medical Center, where he dropped her at the door. He wrote in his statement that the driver mentioned several times she was drunk. Troopers reported McGuire came to the station Dec. 24 and reported that, prior to the accident, she had consumed a shot before leaving work at the Feed and Sing. While driving, she said, a deer ran onto the road and she swerved, saying that, after the crash, a young man came out of a house, offering to take her home. According to reports, a smoking device containing burnt marijuana and a plastic bag of marijuana were found inside her vehicle.
