Salem woman pleads guilty to possession

LISBON — Chantel M. Shuman, 26, Orchard Court, Salem, pleaded guilty to possession of drugs. She faces up to a year in prison, a five-year license suspension and a $2,500 fine. Sentencing is set for March 16 in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court. Shuman had suboxone, as well as two hypodermic needle plungers and a tear off in a vehicle during a traffic stop in August 2016. She has a previous drug-related conviction in 2015.

Brandon M. Byers, 25, Oakwood Street, East Liverpool, was found eligible for intervention in lieu of conviction and pleaded guilty to possession of drugs. Byers was placed on a three-year intervention plan. On Nov. 26, 2016, Byers had less than five grams of crack cocaine.

Lisa V. Rowland, 34, Dodge Street, East Liverpool, was placed on three years community control for tampering with evidence. The community control includes up to six months at the Eastern Ohio Correction Center. On Jan. 8, 2016, when discovered with a baggie of cocaine/heroin when she was booked at the county jail, Rowland removed it from the body cavity where she had it stored and swallowed it.
