POLICE REPORTS

SALEM

— Officers responded to a 600 block Cedar Street home at 9:43 a.m. Saturday to check on the resident after a report of mail piling up in the mailbox. Officers found the front door slightly ajar and discovered the resident dead from apparent natural causes. The matter is under investigation.

— An Austintown resident reported at 1:02 p.m. Saturday that his vehicle had been stolen from the Salem Regional Medical Center parking lot while his nephew had it when admitted a couple days ago. The matter is under investigation.

— Officers responded to a 900 block Franklin Avenue home at 3:05 p.m. Saturday after three consecutive 911 hang-up calls were made from there. Officers found a small child had been playing with a cell phone and accidentally made the calls.

— An officer responded a 600 block South Lincoln Avenue home at 3:09 p.m. Saturday where the resident reported someone overnight had broken the front window screen from the front porch area, but she was unsure if someone had attempted to gain entry because the footprints were inconclusive.

— An officer responded to a 900 block South Lundy Avenue home at 5:10 p.m. Saturday where the resident reported her soon-to-be ex-husband had moved out, but refused to remove a vehicle from the property. She also said she had heard he was hiding narcotics in the vehicle. A K-9 officer indicated an odor of narcotics, but nothing illegal was found.

— Alexander T. Morlan, 20, West Wilson Street, Salem, was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop in the 500 block of East Pershing Street at 7:22 p.m. Saturday.

— Seth Andrew Williams, 23, East Fourth Street, Salem, was charged with disorderly conduct by public intoxication after a patrolling officer observed him walking in the 100 block of East Fourth Street at 7:31 p.m. and determined him to be intoxicated.

— An officer responded to a 2300 block East State Street at 8:11 p.m. Saturday where an employee reported a man known to frequent the business had requested a ride home and pushed her out of the way in an attempt to enter her vehicle before realizing he was out of line and walked away. She said he has a history of causing disturbances in the business and asked that he not return. The officer contacted the man and advised him not to return to the business.

— Corey C. Stahl, 29, South Lundy Avenue, Salem, was arrested at his home at 8:25 p.m. Saturday on an active warrant out of the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office for failure to appear on a drug paraphernalia charge.

— Officers responded to a 400 block Mullins Street home at 9:11 p.m. Saturday where the resident reported finding a chainsaw being sold on social media that he believed was stolen from him the previous week. The seller said he purchased the chainsaw from someone in Columbiana about a month ago. Officers were unable to determine if the resident owned the chainsaw.

— Officers responded to an 800 block East Sixth Street home at 11:18 p.m. Saturday in reference to a domestic disturbance and found a resident had struck her boyfriend in the eye during an argument regarding a cell phone. The boyfriend did not wish to pursue charges and they were advised to separate for the night.

— Tessa Wellington, 28, Wellsville, was arrested on an active warrant out of the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office for failure to appear on a traffic offense following a traffic stop at East State Street and North Lincoln Avenue at 12:08 a.m. Saturday in which she was a passenger.

— A patrolling officer observed a medium sized fire in a 700 block West State Street business parking lot and found that a couple was burning paper in a baking pot in honor of the Chinese New Year. They were advised of the open burning laws and the fire was extinguished.

— Ronald F. Holt Jr., 57, no address listed, was cited for a stop sign violation following a traffic stop at South Broadway Avenue and East State Street at 2:16 a.m. Sunday.

Columbiana

— Police were asked to perform a welfare check at an East Park Avenue residence at 5:19 p.m. Saturday and the man was found to be fine.

Lisbon

— Tammy Souders, West Lincoln Way, reported at 1:11 p.m. Wednesday that Harry Ehrhart III had choked her, threw items at her and pushed her against the wall the night before. Ehrhart denied assaulting her, saying he did break some of his own items and threw a chair out the door. Souders did not have any marks around her neck. Both had been drinking and were warned if police were called back someone would be getting arrested. Souders called back four hours later to say Ehrhart had thrown her belongings into the snow. Police ordered him to retrieve and bag Souders’ items and give them to her, and she was then told to take her belongings and leave.

— Sarah Armstead, East Lincoln Way, called for an officer at 7:53 p.m. Wednesday, saying she wanted Bobby Armstead to leave because he was being a jerk. Armstead said while trying to convince her husband to leave she grabbed his sweatshirt and he knocked her arm away and smacked her in the head. Armstead said she did not want him to get in trouble, and she showed no signs of being injured.

— Police were called to the Hornsby House at 1:50 p.m. Thursday to stand by while a resident was transported to a local hospital for a mental evaluation.

— Andrew V. Diegdio, 17, U.S. Route 30, Hanoverton, was cited for failure to yield after he turned onto Moore Street from East Chestnut Street and slid into a village snow plow truck operated by James M. Oliver. This occurred at 10:43 a.m. Feb. 4.

Salineville

— Sheila Riggs was was seen driving without a license on West Main Street at 10:22 p.m. Saturday. A traffic stop was initiated and Riggs was cited.
