POLICE REPORTS

SALEM

— A resident in the 1000 block of West Perry Street reported at 12:11 a.m. Friday that a suspicious person was knocking on her door. She saw a white station wagon leaving the area. No vehicle matching the description was found.

— Police responded to the driveway behind Dunkin’ Donuts on West State Street at 12:05 a.m. Friday for a suspicious full-size Chevy truck parked in the drive with possible intoxicated people inside. The vehicle was not found in the 800 block of West Pershing Street. A full-size GMC truck was located but nobody was inside.

— A resident in the 700 block of South Lincoln Avenue reported at 9:41 p.m. Thursday that a suspicious red Cadillac had been parked in his driveway for a couple hours. An officer advised him that while handling a motor vehicle accident, the owner of the red Cadillac approached him and said he could not get into his driveway due to the road being blocked from the accident so he was going to park in a neighbor’s drive. The resident then knew who owned the vehicle and said that was ok to be parked there.

— Officers in the 500 block of East Pershing Street at 8:24 p.m. Thursday were flagged down by two juveniles who claimed they were assaulted by other juveniles. The complaint is under investigation.

— Police were called at 8:18 p.m. Thursday to Salem Regional Medical Center for a report of a disorderly male yelling and cursing at employees. An employee said the male in the emergency room became belligerent when they wouldn’t let him back into the ER right away to be with his wife. The employee did not wish for him to leave, but wanted officers to talk with him advising his behavior was not acceptable. An officer spoke to him.

— A motion alarm was reported at 7:03 p.m. Thursday in the 700 block of East Fifth Street. Officers checked the interior and nobody was there. The door was secured.

— A civil matter was reported at 6:49 p.m. Thursday in the 900 block of West Wilson Street. The parties were told to call the courts.

— Police responded to the 600 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 6:12 p.m. Thursday for a motor vehicle accident with injuries after a northbound vehicle went off the right side of the road, striking a utility pole after the driver became distracted, the report said. The fire department and EMT ambulance responded and the driver, 43-year-old Shannon Pagan, of North Ellsworth Avenue, and a 3-year-old female passenger were transported to Salem Regional Medical Center. Ohio Edison responded to repair the broken utility pole and power lines. The vehicle was towed. Officers responded to the hospital and obtained a urine sample from the driver, with a citation pending for the accident and another possible charge pending results of the lab testing.

— An officer at 5:25 p.m. Thursday attempted to assist a female at the police department to scan a lost dog. The dog had no chip.

— Bethany Uptegraph, 19, of Liberty Street, was cited for failure to yield and driving under suspension with additional charges pending after a two-vehicle accident at 8:48 a.m. Thursday on North Union Avenue at Cleveland Street where her eastbound vehicle failed to stop for a clearly marked stop sign and struck a northbound vehicle driven by William Robinson Jr., 18, of Ohio Avenue. The Robinson vehicle continued north on the right side over the curb while the Uptegraph vehicle spun around and struck a utility pole. Both drivers were transported by ambulance to Salem Regional Medical Center with unknown injuries.

— An officer on patrol at 8:38 a.m. Thursday on Sunset in Waterworth Memorial Park saw fresh graffiti on the band shell.

— Aaron Jennings, 65, of Youngstown, was cited for failure to control after reporting at 6:01 a.m. Thursday that he could not see the road that well and missed the turn in the 400 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, striking a utility pole.

PERRY TWP.

— Police assisted an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper at 12:20 p.m. Thursday with searching a vehicle during a traffic stop on Depot Road south of state Route 45. No contraband was found.

— Officers were dispatched at 8:29 p.m. Thursday to the 3000 block of Salem Alliance Road to assist deputies in removing needles from a resident’s yard, disposing of them properly. The homeowner was advised to call if any further problems occurred.

— A woman from Benton Road reported at 7:34 p.m. Wednesday that her son left Wednesday and had not returned home. The male was entered as missing.

— A Salem woman reported at 9:13 p.m. Tuesday that she struck a pothole near the railroad crossing on South Lincoln Avenue which caused the right front tire of the vehicle to become flat. She wanted a report for insurance purposes.

— Police responded at 12:31 p.m. Tuesday to the 1800 block of state Route 45/South Lincoln Avenue for a report of a disabled vehicle, finding a Dodge 3500 owned by a Lakewood woman unsecured and unoccupied with the keys inside. The vehicle was deemed a hazard due to being partially on the road. Sinsley’s Towing removed the vehicle.

— A caller at 10:47 a.m. Tuesday reported a red truck losing its load in the area of state Route 9 and the bypass. No debris was found.

LISBON

— Richard and Patricia Jarvis of Homeworth reported a house trailer they own on Lee Avenue was found broken into Monday. They said there was nothing of any real value inside, and police said the only thing damaged was the broken window.

— Police were called to the BP station about an assault at 6 p.m. Monday but found out the alleged incident occurred in Mahoning County, with the victim assaulted again in Columbiana County. The county sheriff’s office took over the investigation from there.

— Police were called to the Hornsby House on Rose Drive at 12:32 p.m. Wednesday because a client/resident needed to be transported to a local hospital for an evaluation. The man resisted and had to be forced onto the ambulance cot and restrained.

— Amy J. Haines, East Chestnut Street, was arrested for domestic violence at 6 p.m. Wednesday after allegedly grabbing her boyfriend’s 12-year-old daughter by the arm and hair and smacking her near the waist. Police could see a red mark with the outline of fingerprints. The father said he had given Haines permission to spank the girl but he was not present when the punishment was administered.
