SALEM

— Police responded to the 1200 block of Cedar Ridge at 4:05 a.m. Monday for an unknown problem reported by a caller who did not speak very good English but indicated a medical problem. Fire department first responders and an ambulance were dispatched while officers were enroute. Officers spoke to the man who indicated someone inside needed to go to the hospital. Officers spoke with his girlfriend, who spoke fair English and said she became ill after consuming alcoholic beverages, which resulted in vomiting several times and caused the boyfriend concern for her well-being, leading to him call 911. The female was checked by first responders, who found no injuries. She seemed to feel better and declined treatment.

— A man from West Pershing Street told an officer at 1:55 a.m. Monday that he bought a cell phone off of an unknown male and he’s not able to activate it. He wanted to know how to get his money back. He was told it’s a civil matter, not a criminal one.

— A suspicious male was reported at 11:10 p.m. Sunday in the Holiday Inn Express parking lot, sitting in a vehicle with the parking lights on for several hours. An officer located the man who told police he was waiting on his friend to arrive so they could get a room.

— A hit/skip was reported in the 1200 block of Mound Street at 7:55 p.m. Sunday. A woman said her vehicle was hit while she was out of town.

–A possible dispute was reported at 7:39 p.m. Sunday in the 1100 block of East Third Street where both parties were separated. The female claimed to have been kicked in the back of the head. First responders found no physical marks and she refused to be transported to the hospital for further medical inspection. The male had no marks on his hands or feet indicating any physical violence. The female was attempting to find a place to stay.

–Maston Mountz, 26, of Depot Road, was charged with disorderly conduct public urination after police received a call at 6:20 p.m. Sunday for a male urinating near the buildings at Hotpoint Storage on Elm Avenue. Officers located the man and evidence that he did urinate there. The charge was a minor misdemeanor.

— Police responded to the 700 block of West State Street at 6:14 p.m. Sunday when a caller said she saw a juvenile running over the bridge heading west with no adult supervision. The juvenile’s stepfather called in to report him missing but was advised then where the juvenile was located. A relative of the juvenile came to the scene and took the juvenile home.

— A caller at 3:48 p.m. Sunday reported a female fell outside of a building at Vine Avenue and East Third Street. Officers checked outside the apartments but the woman was not located. A neighbor said a man helped her up and they drove away in a white vehicle.

— Officers and the fire department responded to the 600 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 12:52 p.m. Sunday for a report of a suspicious liquid left in a vacant residence. After investigation, officers found the liquid to be non-hazardous.

— A Lisbon man came to the police station at 11:18 a.m. Sunday with questions regarding a vehicle he cosigned for, noting the person he cosigned for missed a payment. He was told to seek legal advice since it’s a civil issue.

— Police, fire department first responders and KLG Ambulance responded to the 1300 block of West State Street for a reported overdose at 3:52 p.m. Sunday, finding a male unresponsive. KLG revived the person and took him to Salem Regional Medical Center.

— A woman in the 1200 block of West State Street reported at 3:14 p.m. Sunday that her 17-year-old daughter ran away from home. The teen was entered into the law enforcement data base and later in the night it was reported the juvenile returned home. Police responded and spoke to the juvenile.

— A caller at 2 p.m. Sunday reported a suspicious person riding a bike on the road on South Lincoln Avenue near Golf Club Drive, but police found no one.

— A dog was reported running loose in the area of Heathside Drive near Old Coach Lane at 9:45 a.m. Sunday, but was not found.

— Logan Snay, 18, of Hanoverton, was charged with underage consumption of alcohol and operating a vehicle under the influence after a traffic stop at 11:54 p.m. Saturday in the 1100 block of Georgetown Road. A passenger in the vehicle, Andrew Berresford, 18, was found in possession of two marijuana pipes and cited for drug paraphernalia, a minor misdemeanor. Snay was processed and taken to the Columbiana County jail.

— A caller at 10:20 p.m. Saturday reported shots being fired, but police could not locate the source.

— A woman called at 8:25 p.m. Saturday to report her grandson had been hit and yelled at by his mother’s ex-boyfriend. Police went to the ex-boyfriend’s house on Old Coach Lane, but could not make contact.

— A woman on Benton Road reported at 7:03 p.m. Saturday that she let her son use her car for one afternoon and it has not been brought back yet. The vehicle was entered into the law enforcement data base, with charges pending.

— Adam Jackson, 40, of Salem, was taken into custody at 3:46 p.m. Saturday on Beechwood Road for an active warrant for failure to appear on a child support charge. He was processed and turned over to a sheriff’s deputy.

— Nicholas Landon, 25, of Beloit, was cited with minor misdemeanors for drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana and cited for speeding after a traffic stop at 12:31 a.m. Saturday on West State Street near Country Club Lane. During a search, Landon was found in possession of a marijuana pipe and marijuana.

— Police responded at 8:50 p.m. Friday to the 1700 block of state Route 344 for a report of shots fired in a field, but the source could not be located.

— A man on Georgetown Road spoke with police at 8:04 p.m. Friday regarding a verbal dispute he had with his wife. He left so there would be no further problems and just wanted police to be aware.

— John P. Shriver Sr., 65, of East Liverpool, was cited for failure to yield-red light after his southbound vehicle on U.S. Route 62/state Route 45 failed to yield at the red light at West State Street and collided with a westbound vehicle driven by Rick Bland, 62, of Beloit, at 7:58 p.m. Friday.

— The owner of a property in the 500 block of Benton Road reported at 7:18 p.m. Friday that he checked on his building and found the door knob busted off along with pry marks on the inside of the door. He said nothing appeared out of order or stolen.

— Police responded at 4:07 p.m. Friday to Andrew Avenue for an animal abuse complaint. Police spoke with the resident and observed the dogs appeared to be fine.

— Melissa Palo, 40, of East Palestine, was cited for assured clear distance ahead after her westbound vehicle on U.S. Route 62/state Route 45 failed to stop and struck the rear of a stationary vehicle driven by Tabitha Patrone, 39, of Poland, who was stopped at the light at Ellsworth Avenue at 2:58 p.m. Friday.

LISBON

— Melissa Gentry, East Chestnut Street, reported Wednesday her neighbor, Amy Haines, was across the street yelling and making threats, allegedly telling Gentry she had better hope nothing happens to Gentry’s vehicle during the night. Haines denied saying anything other than telling her children to stay in the yard.

— Police were asked to check if a boy was at an East Chestnut Street residence at 6:33 p.m. Thursday. Police arrived and spoke to the child’s father, who said he had removed his child from school and he was transported to Dayton by a relative. Police were given permission to search the house but the child was not there, although the TV in his bedroom was on.

— Amy Custer of Salem was shopping at the Save A Lot supermarket on Thursday when she inadvertently left her purse there. After discovering her oversight, Custer returned to the store but her purse was gone. Police intend to review the security video.

— A caller reported a man was walking around naked at Apple Grove apartments at 4 p.m. Saturday. Police came across a shirtless and shoeless man but he was wearing blue jeans but they were on backwards. Police went back with him to his apartment, where they found dirt everywhere from a plant and water overflowing from a sink and the bathtub. The man said a friend was hiding in the closet, but police found a plant in there but outside the pot. The resident also claimed there was a bear in the tree line. Police remained until an ambulance transported him to a local hospital for an evaluation.

— Norine Davis, West Washington Street, reported April 13 her daughter-in-law Jessica Vitullo keeps coming into her room and throwing things at her and pushing her around. Vitullo agreed to leave for the night to defuse the situation.

— A caller reported Thursday a car was parked illegally on Grandview Street and preventing him from getting to his home on Pine Street. Police had the motorist move the vehicle where people frequently park while picking up their children from school, one of whom was waiting for her handicapped daughter. Police told the caller there was still plenty of room for him to turn, which he disputed. Police circled the block and saw the caller was still sitting there even though the other vehicles had left. He was told to move along.
