Hanoverton man admits violatiing terms of community control

LISBON — In Columbiana County Common Pleas Court, Justin D. Pitts, 31, Railroad Street, Hanoverton, stipulated to violating the terms of his community control. On Jan. 26, 2017, Pitts had been convicted after pleading guilty to breaking and entering, tampering with a coin machine, possession of criminal tools, possession of drug abuse instruments and three counts of burglary. Pitts’ community control was dishonorably terminated on Friday and he was sentenced to 30 months in prison and credited with 243 days served.

In early 2016, Pitts had entered the Thomas Market, breaking through a window and a plywood barrier to steal cash from the register and break into a coin machine. Pitts later broke into the home of Les Mohler, Stroup Road, Hanoverton, stealing a shotgun, surveying equipment, coins and other merchandise. Additionally, Pitts forced his way into the front door of Mary Miller, Tomahawk Drive, Negley, and ransacked the dresser drawers looking for items to steal; and forced a window of a home belonging to Paul Davis, Hull Road, with the purpose of stealing items. Finally, Pitts had hypodermics used for the injection of heroin.

Derrick A. Bruce, 30, Grant Street, Salem, stipulated to violating the terms of his community control for a prior theft conviction. His community control has been dishonorably terminated. Bruce failed to financially meet his community control obligations for the charge, which had stemmed from stealing miscellaneous TVs, an RCA home theater system, a flame helmet and a can opener from the Salem Walmart on April 5, 2013.

Austin A. Angeli, 30, Goshen Road, Salem, pleaded guilty to two counts of complicity to trafficking in drugs and one count of trafficking in drugs. He faces up to three years in prison, a five-year license suspension and a $7,500 fine. Sentencing is set for Aug. 10. On Dec. 12, 2016, Angeli drove Rha Hudson to buy cocaine and fentanyl from someone with the Columbiana County Drug Task Force. Prior to that, on Nov. 22, 2016, Angeli sold four films of buprenorphine to an undercover agent.

John A. Carlariello, 59, Oak Street, Salem, was found eligible for intervention in lieu of conviction and pleaded guilty to three counts of possession of drugs. He was placed on a four year intervention program. On Jan. 19, 2017, Carlariello had oxycodone, amphetamine and tramadol.

James W. Hawkey III, 34, New Manchester, W.Va., was found eligible for intervention in lieu of conviction. He pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of drugs and placed on a three-year intervention program. On Aug. 9, 2017, Hawkey had fentanyl and carfentanyl.
