Salem man pleads guilty to endangering children

LISBON — William P. Aldrich, 33, Jennings Avenue, Salem, pleaded guilty in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court to endangering children for excessive corporal punishment on Nov. 25, 2017. Aldrich punched the child and choked him to the point where he could not breathe or talk. Aldrich faces up to three years in prison and a $10,000 fine. Sentencing is set for Aug. 30.

Leonard B. Coursin, 66, Henry Avenue, East Liverpool, pleaded guilty to possession of drugs for cocaine and faces up to a year in prison, a five-year licenses suspension and a $2,500 fine. Sentencing is set for Aug. 31.

Mary Ann Whitehill, 64, Georgetown, Pa., pleaded guilty to passing bad checks and requested immediate sentencing. Whitehill was credited with seven days served in jail and ordered to pay restitution.The passing bad checks charge was from May of 2007.

Timothy H. Lewis, 62, East Main Street, Salineville, was credited with 64 days in jail and placed on two years community control sanctions for two years initially under intensive supervision for attempted breaking and entering. Assistant County Prosecutor Tammie Riley Jones said Lewis had helped a neighbor move in and came back later, jiggling the doorknob so he could look for something he said he had lost while inside earlier. Lewis’ defense attorney, Kelly Linger said Lewis was looking for medication his wife had lost.
