Salem reports

— Police made a traffic stop in the 900 block of W. State Street at 1:51 a.m. Sunday for a moving violation and cited Eric S. McFarland, 11526 state Route 7, Lisbon, with OVI, driving under a 12-point suspension and a turn signal violation. His vehicle was secured and he was dropped off at a residence on W. 7th St.

— At 1:48 a.m. Sunday, police responded to the 800 block of W. Pershing Street and several complainants advised both a male and female were assaulted by a known male and unknown female while at a business in the 500 block of S. Broadway Avenue. The incident is under investigation.

— Police responded to the 100 block of Hawley Avenue at 1:31 a.m. Sunday where a male and female were outside yelling at each other. Police attempted to make contact but no one came to the door and there was no disturbance.

— At 11:22 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 200 block of W. Wilson Street where the complainant advised of juveniles driving through the area yelling out names to the complainant and her company on the front porch. Officers learned who the vehicle owner was and it was determined it was their daughter who was driving. She was advised that her behavior would not be tolerated and she would be charged if it continued.

— Police responded on station at 9:37 p.m. Saturday to assist the highway patrol with an OVI breath test for a person who tested over the legal limit.

— At 8:30 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 1900 block of N. Ellsworth Avenue and observed the complainant upset in the parking lot. She advised her husband stated he was going to commit suicide by overdosing on illegal narcotics. The fire department and EMTs responded to the 100 block of Buckeye Avenue and he denied any threats to harm himself or needing medical attention. He said he and the complainant had a verbal dispute.

— At 8:16 p.m. Saturday, police received a complaint on station from a person who reported sustaining irreparable damage to the side wall of a front tire. It was the result of striking a dried mound of concrete along the north side curb of W. Pershing Street, west of Sharp Avenue. A resident advised the complainant the concrete was placed there during a recent repair of the road for a water line break. The resident also advised the complainant that several other vehicles struck the same place. Officers viewed the concrete patch which had set. Therefore there were traffic cones that were moved to the center of the street to allow vehicles wide passage around the mound of concrete. A cone was place directly in front of the mound until it can be removed and a note was left for the water department.

— At 7:48 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 200 block of Park Avenue regarding 911 hang up calls. Police were unable to locate anyone.

— Police responded to Pine Lake Road and Smith-Goshen Road at 6:51 p.m. Saturday with the K-9 unit and Argo indicated an odor of narcotics and a search turned up drug paraphernalia.

— Police responded to the 2800 block of E. State Street at 6:26 p.m. Saturday where Brittany R. Demarco, 37457 state Route 558, Leetonia, was charged with shoplifting $96.19 worth of merchandise. She was transported to the county jail.

— Police responded to the 2800 block of E. State St. at 4:38 p.m. Saturday regarding a possible child abuse incident. The caller inside the business advised of observing a man hit an infant that was with him multiple times. Officers located a man and woman getting into their vehicle with their children and advised them of the complaint and visually checked the infant who appeared OK. Both denied abusing the child and the man said he slapped the child on the hands for disobeying him.

— At 4:02 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 2900 block of E. State Street where the complainant advised his 17-year-old son went to the store and bought vape oil. The complainant advised he went to the store and told the employee to stop selling to minors. Information will be forwarded to the Ohio Investigative Unit.

— Police responded to the S. Lincoln Avenue and E. Euclid Street area regarding a report of vehicle operating in a reckless manner traveling northbound into the city at 3:39 p.m. Saturday. Police were unable to locate the vehicle.

— At 2:20 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 2800 block of E. State Street where loss prevention personnel had detained an adult female until police arrived. She was caught leaving the business without paying for $97.80 in groceries.

— Police responded to the E. 3rd Street after the complainant advised a known person took her vehicle without permission at 1:42 p.m. Saturday. The vehicle was located at 2:50 p.m. Saturday in the 600 block of E. 5th Street with no further action taken.

LISBON REPORTS

— The fire department responded Saturday afternoon to 213 N. Beaver Street for an elderly male needing a lift assist.

— The fire department responded Friday afternoon to the county jail for a general fire alarm and found an inmate had knocked the heads off sprinklers.

— A report was made Sunday morning of a structure fire on S. Green Street where adults and children were supposed to be inside. A police officer sent to the scene reported not seeing anything, and the fire department was sent to check the home. The fire chief said it was a false alarm.

— Responding Sunday to reports of a fire on state Route 164, firefighters found a farmer burning off his fields, and the chief said he had plowed around the area he was burning, saying, “He had done everything right.” The department was not needed to extinguish the fire.

— West Point Fire Department responded Saturday night to reports of electric lines on fire on state Route 7 at Middle Beaver Road.
