POLICE REPORTS

 SALEM

— A driver was southbound in the 300 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 1:46 p.m. Thursday when his vehicle reportedly veered to the right, causing him to strike the curb and a utility pole before coming to rest in the curb lawn. The crash was from an apparent mechanical failure and the vehicle was towed from the scene. No injuries were reported and no citation issued.

— An officer responded to the 100 block of Hawley Avenue at 2:17 p.m. Thursday in reference to a female driver operating her vehicle recklessly in the roadway and alleys and yelling at people while she drove by. The officer was unable to find the vehicle.

— A male individual reported at 2:37 p.m. Thursday that someone had smashed out the rear the window and keyed his vehicle while it was parked in the 500 block of South Broadway Avenue overnight. The issue is possibly in reference to a recent break up and is under investigation.

— An officer responded to a 1300 block Allen Road business at 4:01 p.m. Thursday where a complainant reported finding the front license plate of his vehicle on the ground and the bumper damaged while parked at the business overnight. The complainant said no one should have been in the area where the vehicle was parked.

— Officers responded to the Centennial Park Pool at 4:53 p.m. Thursday in reference to an assault and eventually found the victim at the Salem library. The victim said that two male individuals had jumped him at the pool while witnesses said the victim struck on the individual after they were throwing candy at him, causing them to strike him. The lifeguard on duty said the victim initiated the incident and he was banned from the pool.

— An officer responded to a 900 block South Lundy Avenue home at 6:07 p.m. Thursday in reference to a dispute between the landlord and tenant in which the landlord attempted to arrange a time for repairs to the home and the tenant threw a padlock in his direction. The tenant said he was sleeping when the landlord began pounding on the door and yelling, causing him to become angry. They agreed on a time have the repairs made.

— An officer responded to a 600 block North Howard Avenue home at 7:03 p.m. Thursday where the resident reported finding her vehicle door open and items spread out across the seats. She said her wallet was also missing.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of Aetna Street at 7:21 p.m. Thursday where a resident reported a vehicle had been abandoned on the property of a nearby vacant home for several months and that after a new family moved in the vehicle was stripped for parts. The new tenants said the vehicle was to be towed by the property owner and that they believed a family member who does not reside there had stripped the vehicle. The matter is under investigation. Officers later returned when the resident reported a female individual had made racial slurs toward him. The woman said the resident had first made comments toward her about her children. They were advised to stay away from each other.

— Officers responded to a 100 block South Howard Avenue home at 8:42 p.m. Thursday where a resident reported individuals visiting next door had been harassing her and the next door neighbor had called her several times against her wishes. The neighbor was advised to cease contact with the complainant.

— Officers responded to a 1700 block East State Street business at 10:50 p.m. Thursday in reference to someone driving around the building and yelling profanities at the manager. The vehicle had already left the area, but witnesses provided its license plate number. The matter is under investigation.

— A woman reported at 12:38 a.m. Friday seeing someone at the 2800 block of East State Street remove the blue plastic sleeve covering off a concrete post near the business doors, lay it on the ground and strike it with her vehicle before leaving.

— Officers responded to a 2800 block East State Street business at 1:22 a.m. Friday in reference to several juveniles dumping paint on the floor. The juveniles were escorted from the building and advised not to return.

— Officers responded to the 100 block Hawley Avenue at 2:02 a.m. Friday in reference to a male individual dressed in black staring at houses and scaring residents who were outside. The officers were unable to find the man who left the area westbound.

GOSHEN POLICE DISTRICT

— An officer responded with Green Township firefighters to a vehicle fire in the 7300 block of West South Range Road at 3:10 p.m. Monday where the complainant reported three male individuals had been there to purchase another vehicle for scrap when the engine compartment of the burned vehicle caught fire. The complainant said the three men fled the scene in a silver Chevy Silverado.

— A 17-year-old Beloit male was charged with misdemeanor domestic violence after officers responded to an 18000 Fourth Street, Beloit, home at 12:07 a.m. Tuesday where his grandmother reported he exposed himself, poked her in the throat and punched her while under the influence of a drug. The juvenile was uncooperative and apparently hallucinating. Beloit EMS and Sebring police also responded and the juvenile was transported to the Alliance hospital for evaluation before being transported to the Mahoning County Justice Center.

LEETONIA

— An officer responded to Columbia Street by Spruce Street at 7:34 p.m. Thursday in reference to a trailer truck parked blocking the entrance to the alley. The officer spoke to a repairman who was trying to repair a problem with the brakes. Once the repair was complete, the driver left.

PERRY TWP.

— Police responded to the 700 block West Pidgeon Road at 6:20 p.m. Thursday in reference to a domestic dispute between a husband and wife. The wife said they were having marital problems and her husband made threats toward her. The husband denied having an issues with his wife and she declined to pursue charges. The husband was advised not to return to the place where the incident occurred.

— Police responded to the 400 block of Franklin Avenue at 9:01 p.m. Thursday where a woman reported her mother had stolen her social security check in February.

– Police responded to a 300 block Springdale Avenue home at 9:49 p.m. Thursday in reference to a domestic dispute between a boyfriend and girlfriend. The two individuals said that no violence occurred and the girlfriend was able to find someplace to go for the remainder of the night. Police returned to the home at 8:12 a.m. Friday in reference to a possible assault and found that the girlfriend had returned to the home to gather some belongings. The boyfriend ultimately allowed the woman to gather her belongings and wait for a friend to pick her up.

— Police responded to a 1400 block Depot Road home at 10:33 p.m. Thursday in reference to a domestic dispute between a husband and wife. The wife said her husband had thrown Gatorade in her face and yelled at her regarding her not leaving food for the dogs then fled the home. She did not wish to pursue charges and officers were unable to find him.
