SALEM

— An officer at 12:51 a.m. Wednesday saw a female walking in the 100 block of South Ellsworth Avenue with no shoes and stopped to see if she needed assistance. The officer observed a strong odor of alcohol coming from the female and determined she was intoxicated. She was given a courtesy transport to the 200 block of Vine Avenue so she could go inside for the night.

— Deven Neal, 20, whose last known address was 2104 Oak St., was taken into custody on a warrant for possession of dangerous drugs after police arrived at his place of employment in the 200 block of North Cunningham Road at 11:24 p.m. Tuesday to serve the warrant. He was working at the time and was given a chance to have another worker come in and take his place on the job. Once the other worker arrived, he was arrested, processed at the police station and then turned over to a Columbiana County sheriff’s deputy.

— Police were called at 11:09 p.m. Tuesday to the 400 block of Ohio Avenue for a neighbor dispute. A man said he and a neighbor got into a small physical altercation, but he didn’t want to press charges or have officers talk to the other person. He was told to call if there were further issues.

— Kirk Zamborsky, 49, of 968 E. Third St., was taken into custody at his residence at 10:29 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for possession of drugs. After being processed at the police station, he was turned over to a sheriff’s deputy and transported to jail.

— Stephen W. Finley, 59, of 820 Summit St., was taken into custody at his residence at 9:54 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for possession of drugs, was processed at the police station and turned over to a sheriff’s deputy for transport to jail.

— An officer at 9:33 p.m. Tuesday responded to a business in the 200 block of West State Street for a report of a suspicious person pacing around in the parking lot. The officer made contact with the person who said he lost his ID card and was looking in an area where he had been previously. He was told he’ll be contacted if anyone turns it in.

— Cletis Ray Curtis Monroy, 35, of 940 E. Sixth St., was taken into custody in the 900 block of Home Circle at 9:18 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for possession of drugs. He was processed at the police station and turned over to a sheriff’s deputy for transport to jail.

— A woman from South Howard Avenue reported at 6:34 p.m. Tuesday that someone stole her boyfriend’s phone and she wanted a report on file.

— Police responded to the 200 block of Continental Drive for a report at 4:48 p.m. Tuesday about a male who had thoughts of suicide. Fire department first responders and EMT ambulance came to the scene and the male was taken to a hospital for treatment.

— A caller at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday reported a person with a gun in the 900 block of East State Street. Officers found a male with an orange shirt who was carrying groceries crossing South Lincoln Avenue in the 100 block headed east from South Alley. The male was open carrying a firearm on his right side. He advised he never had it on his head walking with it like that. He was told about the complaint of him having a gun strapped to his head, then was sent on his way.

— A parking complaint at 2:49 p.m. Tuesday involved a mint green Jeep Renegade parked in the 500 block of Franklin Street for awhile. The vehicle left just before police arrived.

— Nelson Walter, 80, of 947 South Ave., was taken into custody at his residence at 1:13 p.m. Tuesday on an outstanding warrant for gross sexual imposition. He was processed at the station and turned over to a sheriff’s deputy for transport to the jail.

— A clerk at Smith Oil on East State Street reported a male pumped $20 worth of fuel and left without paying at 12:13 p.m. Tuesday, but then the person returned shortly after and paid for the fuel.

— Police were called at 10:52 a.m. Tuesday to the area of South Lincoln and Aetna for a medical problem. An officer saw a red truck northbound on Lincoln just passing Perry Street riding up against the eastside curb. A black vehicle was behind it with four-way flashers on. A traffic stop was initiated on Lincoln and the male driver had large glassy pupils. The report said he was unsure about his driving and where he was working, only being able to advise he was in Salem. Fire department first responders and EMT ambulance responded and he was transported to Salem Regional Medical Center. With the male’s permission, an officer drove his car to the police parking lot and left the key with dispatch. He was told to pick it up when he’s released.

— Drug paraphernalia was reported at 9:44 a.m. Tuesday in the 600 block of Columbia Street where an office recovered an insulin needle from the bushes along with a lighter. The officer disposed of both items properly.

— Police were called at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday to Walmart where an assistant manager said a male came into the store and was not looking good, going into the bathroom upset and crying and scratching at himself. She got him something to drink and waited for officers. Officers spoke to the man who said he was having an anxiety attack. He was visibly upset and appeared to be having a medical problem. Fire department first responders and KLG ambulance arrived and he signed a refusal for treatment and transport. He was told to take his bicycle and go back home until his medical condition improved.

LISBON

— Richard E. Parrish, 46, North Market Street, reported at 2:51 a.m. Sept. 13 he wanted Amber Nguyen, 34, removed from his residence. Nguyen left without incident. Police were called to a West Lincoln Way residence at 5 a.m., where Nguyen said her friend Christina L. Minger received threatening Facebook posts from Parrish. Police reviewed the messages and determined they were not threatening.

— Police were called to the Hornsby House at 6:51 am. Sept. 13 in regard to a resident who appeared to be under the influence of something. Police seized a number of medications in his possession and called for an ambulance, which transported him to a local hospital.

— Police were called to Apple Grove apartments at 12:13 a.m. Tuesday, where a resident claimed there was a group of people outside her window chanting but she did not know what they were saying. She believes they were devil worshipers, but police suggested perhaps they were neighbors just outside talking. The officers looked around but did not see anyone about.

— Billy Cloud, North Beaver Street, reported being slapped on the head by Daniel Taylor at 8:18 p.m. Saturday because of some dispute. The parties were told to stay away from each other.

— A caller reported there was a possible drunken woman on East Washington Street at 12:08 a.m. Sunday. Police found a distraught woman crying on a porch over her mother’s recent passing. The woman was inconsolable and talked of not wanting to live, so an ambulance was called to transport her to a local hospital.

— Witnesses saw a motorist go straight through the Jackson Street intersection at 11:08 p.m. Thursday and take out a street sign in front of an East Lincoln Way residence. The car then turned east on state Route 154 toward the Days Inn, where police met a woman who reported nearly being run off the road by another vehicle. Police then found a vehicle matching the description of the one that took out the sign and it was registered to Edgar R. Hambright of Pittsburgh, who was found to be staying at the motel. Hambright was found at the motel and appeared drunk and had an alcoholic beverage in his hand. Hambright admitted to striking the sign and coming back to the motel, where he started drinking because he was upset. Hambright was cited for the accident.’

— Brandon J. Kiko, 20, of Dalton, was charged with theft after turning himself in and admitting stealing $73 while working at an amusement game at the Johnny Appleseed Festival on Saturday night. An official with McGinnis Amusements originally claimed Kiko stole $400.

— While in the course of conducting an investigation, police questioned a group of people congregated in the town square at 9:18 p.m. Saturday. When police said something to them about drinking in the streets, Gary A. Shell Jr., 22, of Damascus, became hostile and began making derogatory comments to Lt. Shar Daub. Shell could barely stand and was slurring his speech, so he was arrested for public intoxication.

— Jeff Skidmore reported the following items were stolen Sunday from a kettle corn stand. The items included a battery charger, 5-gallon fuel tank and a half gallon of oil.

LEETONIA

— An officer responded to a fire alarm at the K-12 campus at 2:47 p.m. Sept. 9, but found no signs of smoke or people in need. Two teachers were evacuated from the building until the fire department cleared the scene.

— An officer responded to the American Legion at 1:54 a.m. Sunday where an employee reported a woman who has been barred from the establishment keeps coming back. The woman was advised to leave and the employee was told to inform the police department that the woman is not allowed on the property.

— An officer responded to a 400 block Pearl Street home at 7:58 p.m. Sunday in reference to a possible domestic dispute. The resident said that he had been talking on the phone with his mother via speaker and denied that anyone else was in the home.

— An officer responded to a 300 block Waddell Street home at 10:59 a.m. Monday in reference to dogs outside without shelter. The officer observed the dogs outside in the rain with no shelter and spoke with the owner, who said she would provide shelter for them.

— A woman reported on station at 2:54 p.m. Monday receiving at a Columbia Street location an unidentified package that seemed to be pills. The officer also was unable to determine where the package came from and did not open it due to its suspicious nature. The woman was advised to contact the department if she receives any more similar packages.

— An employee of a Commerce Drive business reported at 7:45 p.m. Monday being harassed by an alleged wanted person. An officer said extra patrols would be made in the area.

— An officer responded to a Main Street home at 8:44 p.m. Monday where the resident reported someone had thrown a possible explosive device at a vehicle. The officer discovered an unexploded Molotov Cocktail had struck and damaged a window on the homeowner’s vehicle. No one in the residence observed someone on the property before or after the device had been thrown. The incident was captured on camera and is under investigation.

— An officer found a purple and silver smoking device on the roadway outside the police department at 4:04 p.m. Tuesday. The officer placed the device in evidence.
