SHERIFF’S OFFICE

— A deputy and St. Clair Township police responded to a Strader Road home at 7:11 p.m. Monday for an attempted overdose. A woman was standing outside the home when they arrived and said she took pills to hurt her husband. West Point EMS arrived and she was transported to a hospital.

— Someone asked deputies to check on two children living at a home on Ridge Road in West Township at 7:07 p.m. Monday. Deputies spoke to the children, who were at the home with their mother, Brandy Boone. The children said earlier in the day they got into an argument and the older boy smacked the younger child on the head. Neither appeared injured.

— Jakob Bell, Campbell Road, Hanover Township, reported at 12:33 p.m. Monday he received a phone call from a company asking for his personal information. He called deputies back later to say the company was calling about his credit score.

— Deputies went to a state Route 170, Unity Township, home to serve a protection order on Dustin Andrews at 8:33 a.m. Sunday. While deputies were there, McKenzie Garrett came and recovered her property as was allowed by the protection order. An ambulance was called for Andrews, who made a statement about harming himself.

— Jeff Shuman, Elmwood Drive, Center Township, reported at 3:50 p.m. Monday a man driving a little red car and claiming to work for an insurance company came onto his property. The man had a camera and a yellow notebook. He was wearing a Steelers jacket and appeared to be truthful. However, after the man left Shuman contacted his insurance company and learned they had not sent anyone to his property.

— Deputies assisted the highway patrol at 11:04 p.m. Sunday at the state office at Guilford Lake where a trooper was dealing with two men, who were reportedly being confrontational with the trooper. Deputies found the men had been fishing without a valid license. The Ohio Department of Natural Resources was contacted and took control of the situation.

— A suspicious man was reported walking through a cornfield in the area of Mahoning Avenue in Knox Township at 8:15 p.m. Monday. The man was described as black and wearing a gray sweatshirt. Deputies were unable to locate him.

–Deputies were asked to check on a 17-year-old boy on Leslie Road in Madison Township at 12:37 p.m. Friday. He has medical issues requiring constant care and on Friday morning there was a problem with his nurse leaving. The nurse reportedly told her boss the boy’s mother was intoxicated and yelling at everyone in the house. Children’s Services was notified and sent a worker to the house, with the back door standing open and no one responding when she yelled inside. Deputies yelled inside and entered the home, finding the boy’s room empty and the mother intoxicated and standing only in her undergarments in the living room. The mother told deputies and Children’s Services her son was with “Uncle Joe” who is a live-in caregiver.

— An ATV accident was reported at a property on Bayard Road in West Township at 6:46 p.m. Saturday. A four-seat Polaris Razor was turning left into an open field, while another ATV was approaching behind tall grass and struck the driver’s side of the Razor. Both occupants of the second ATV were transported to Canton Aultman Hospital by Sandy Fire District EMS. One 12-year-old girl was taken to the hospital by her parents.

— An underage party was reported at a Leetonia Road, Salem Township, home at 9:43 p.m. Saturday. Deputies spoke to a man living at the home, who said they were having a party, but no one under age 21 was drinking.

— An Opal Drive, Yellow Creek Township, mother reported at 3:59 p.m. Saturday her 16-year-old son left the house 48 hours ago and will not come home. The boy is staying at his brother’s house in Wellsville. Deputies explained how to file unruly charges against the boy in juvenile court.

— A Willard Road, Hanoverton woman reported at 12:29 p.m. Saturday an ongoing computer scam or hacking issue with an email and Facebook account.

— A deputy was called to a state Route 45, Center Township home at 10:06 p.m. Saturday for a 911 open line call and people could be heard arguing in the background. The deputy spoke with Maeggan L. Hawk and her husband Shawn Hawk and they said they were arguing and that was all. Mrs. Hawk signed a refusal to prosecute.

— A deputy conducted a welfare check on a woman at a home on Sixteen School Road in Yellow Creek Township at 3:44 p.m. Sunday after she had not been heard from all day and the family was concerned as she has been a victim of domestic violence recently. The deputy checked the home but did not find the woman, although she later contacted the sheriff’s office and said she was fine. She was told to contact her family.

— A deputy was called to the Ace Hardware on Crestview Road in Columbiana for an alarm drop at 6:55 p.m. Sunday. Everything was found to be fine.
