SALEM REPORTS

— A caller at 2:08 a.m. Thursday reported a suspicious vehicle in a parking lot at South Howard and West Pershing. Police made contact with two people in the vehicle, including a female who said she was there to pick up her boyfriend.

— Shawdie Padilla, 30, of 1662 Westview Ave., was charged with assault of an officer, disorderly conduct and harassment with a bodily substance after police were called at 11:32 p.m. Wednesday to the 1600 block of Westview for a well-being check on a female allegedly attempting to enter a house she did not own. Officers witnessed her attempting to gain entry and smelled an odor of alcoholic beverage coming from her. Fire department first responders and EMT ambulance were dispatched to the scene due to her being incoherent and having cuts on her body. At one point, she allegedly sat up and struck an officer across the face. She was transported to Salem Regional Medical Center and spit on another officer while enroute. She was later discharged from the hospital and transported directly to the Columbiana County jail.

— A pair of residents from East Fourth Street came to the police station at 7:42 p.m. Wednesday regarding threats made over the telephone. They were told not to have contact with the person.

— A female came to the police station at 7:41 p.m. Wednesday regarding harassment from a juvenile she had issues with previously. She said while trick or treating, the male juvenile followed her and her son and made vulgar comments towards her and him. The juvenile also made comments of physical harm towards her son. She was worried about the incident escalating at future school events. Police made contact with the aggressing juvenile who was advised of possible charges if the issue continues. Police were attempting to contact a parent.

— Police responded to the 500 block of Continental at 7:33 p.m. Wednesday for a woman who believed she was being scammed out of money from her credit card company. Upon further investigation, she was informed about the payment needing to be made every month. She was told to contact her counselor about the issue due to the credit card company not allowing the officer to make contact for her.

— A woman in the area of South Union Avenue and East Pershing Street reported at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday that a group of juveniles threw an egg at her vehicle and one of them was still in the area. Officers spoke to the juvenile and gave him a ride home and released him to his mother. The other juvenile was not located.

— An alarm was reported at 6:18 p.m. Wednesday in the 300 block of East State Street. The exterior was secure.

— Police were called at 5:54 p.m. Wednesday to the area of East State Street and Brooklyn for a reckless vehicle. A caller said a black vehicle went through the barricades and was traveling on the wrong wide of the road. The vehicle was not located.

— Police responded to the area of North Lincoln and State for a complaint at 4:28 p.m. Wednesday of a black Chevy Silverado being driven recklessly, passing cars in a no passing zone. The vehicle left the area and was not found.

— A caller at 11:38 a.m. Wednesday reported a fight in progress at Speedway gas station, 175 W. State St. Witnesses told officers the males involved got into an argument in the store and then continued it outside but eventually got into separate vehicles and left.

— Police were asked at 10:47 a.m. Wednesday to check the well-being of a female on Prospect Street after a relative was unable to reach her and reported she made some suggestive statements. Officers spoke with the female and determined she was fine.

— Police were called at 8:40 a.m. Wednesday for a traffic violation by a vehicle regarding a school bus. Officers were provided with a description of the vehicle involved and the timeframe when the vehicle came through the area of West Wilson Street.

— A dog was reported at large in the 500 block of Jennings at 6:23 a.m. Wednesday. The humane officer was contacted and retrieved the dog, then officers were able to locate the owner, who was told the dog’s location.

GOSHEN POLICE DISTRICT

— Lisa Squires, 34, Sharon Lynn Drive, Salem, was charged with domestic violence after officers responded to her home at 11:21 a.m. Tuesday where she had thrown a glass cup at her boyfriend during an argument, causing a laceration on his hand. Squires also had a cut on her foot caused by stepping on a razor during the argument, she said. Damascus EMS responded to check on both individuals and once they were cleared, Squires was transported to the Mahoning County Justice Center.

— Corley F. Lamb, 23, North Jackson, was charged with driving under suspension and speeding following a traffic stop at state routes 165 and 45 at 6:14 p.m. Tuesday.
