SHERIFF’S OFFICE

— Joshua B. Petersen, 28, High Street, Leetonia, was charged with robbery after deputies were called to a domestic incident, reported by a school bus driver on Hartley Road in Knox Township on Tuesday. Petersen reportedly threatened to harm his mother, Gail Petersen; his grandmother, Sara Crawford and his grandfather, William Crawford, before grabbing his mother’s arm, bruising her and tearing the watch off her wrist. Additionally, Petersen allegedly took his mother’s car keys, attempted to steal her car, stole her cell phone, destroyed the landline phone and attempted to locate the gun cabinet keys. After he fled the house, deputies reportedly found him running out of the back door of an unoccupied house nearby. He disobeyed repeated orders to stop and was tased. Peterson refused to walk to the cruisers and was transported in the bed of a truck driven by ODNR Wildlife officer Scott Angelo. Petersen is scheduled to be arraigned today in Columbiana County Municipal Court on the robbery charge and other charges are reportedly pending.

— A domestic dispute was reported at 7:55 a.m. Tuesday involving brothers James Lee Spurlock and Duallen Stanford, both of a state Route 170 home. Ethel Stanford said the boys were arguing and Spurlock threw his cell phone across the room causing it to shatter and upsetting him further. Duallen Stanford left the house on foot. Deputies explained this was the second day in a row deputies were called there due to the brothers fighting and they may both be charged if deputies have to return.
