Lisbon woman pleads guilty to drug counts

LISBON — A Lisbon-area woman pleaded guilty this week in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court to trying to smuggle drugs into the county jail and other crimes.

Amber L. Nguyen, 34, of state Route 164, pleaded guilty to three counts of trying to smuggle drugs into the county jail and three counts of drug possession related to that incident. She also pleaded guilty to one count of tampering with evidence and one count of drug possession from a separate incident.

Nguyen was found to have acrylfentanyl, fentanyl and monoacetylmorphine hidden on her while being booked at the county jail on another charge in June 2017.

The tampering with evidence charge and other drug possession charge stem from a traffic stop that occurred this past March on state Route 518 near Gavers. While seated in a highway patrol cruiser, Nguyen hid cocaine under her seat.

She is scheduled to be sentenced on March 1.
