SALEM

— William R. Beeson, 30, state Route 9, Salem, was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana after a patrolling officer observed a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of a closed business in the 100 block of Jennings Avenue, then again in the 100 block of Benton Road. A consent search of the vehicle found Beeson in possession of the contraband as well as a conceal BB gun. A passenger was released from the scene.

— Officers responded to a 100 block South Broadway Avenue business at 9:20 a.m. Saturday where employees asked that two male individuals be removed due to their involvement in a previous shoplifting incident. The two men agreed to leave.

— Officers responded to a 500 block Franklin Avenue home at noon Saturday where the resident reported someone overnight had stolen some Christmas lights from his front yard.

— Officers responded to a 900 block East State Street business at 12:20 p.m. Saturday in reference to a domestic dispute in a vehicle and found a man and woman had been in verbal dispute with nothing physical taking place. They were advised of the consequences of their actions.

— Officers responded to a 200 block East Second Street business at 12:43 p.m. Saturday where an employee reported a suspicious male individual using binoculars to look in the windows at the business. The officers were able to identify the man in question, but were unable to find him.

— Sarah E. Johnson, 28, East Third Street, Salem, was charged with domestic violence after officers responded to her home at 1:56 p.m. Saturday in reference to a domestic dispute and found that she had been in a verbal argument with her husband which turned physical. She was determined to be the primary aggressor.

— Lynette C. Davis, 49, East Fourth Street, Salem, was arrested on an active warrant out of the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office as well as cited for driving under suspension, expired registration, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana following a traffic stop in the 500 block of East Fourth Street.

— An officer responded to a 100 North Howard Avenue business at 7:14 p.m. Saturday where an employee reported seeing two male individuals dump trash in the business’ dumpster and then fled the scene. The officer was unable to find the men in question.

— An officer assisted Lisbon police with a K-9 search at 8:36 p.m. Saturday for a suspect who had assaulted an officer and fled a traffic stop. The K-9 officer located the suspect but he again fled from officers before Lisbon police eventually apprehended him.

— Randy L. Newberry, 60, Morris Road, Lisbon, was cited for endangering children, OVI, failure to control, leaving the scene of an crash, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana after officers responded to the 1700 block of Quaker Lane at 10:06 p.m. Saturday in reference to an intoxicated driver who had driven into a ditch, pushed the vehicle out and fled the area. Officers located the vehicle in the 100 block of East State Street and identified Newberry with an intoxicated passenger and a juvenile in the back seat. The passenger and juvenile were transported to the police station to wait for a ride.

— An officer responded to a 200 block South Lincoln Avenue business at 10:52 p.m. Saturday in reference to a panic alarm. An employee reported an intoxicated woman was in the parking lot causing a disturbance. A ride had arrived for the woman and she was advised to stay home for the rest of the night.

— An officer stood by with an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper during a traffic stop on Depot Road just south of city limits at 12:13 a.m. Saturday until Perry Township police could arrive to assist with an extremely intoxicated passenger who posed a threat to himself and others.

Lisbon

— A domestic situation was reported at the home of Kristina Minger, West Lincoln Way, at 2:14 a.m. Saturday. Minger said her ex-boyfriend, Joseph Long, who lives at the home was intoxicated and calling people in the home names. He reportedly also threatened to burn the house down. Police spoke to Long and told him to leave for the night until things calmed down. He then threatened that when he left he was going to stand in front of a moving train and kill himself. An ambulance was called to take Long to the hospital for evaluation. He said he was going to walk out when he got there and refuse to cooperate.

— Kevin Young, Kelly Park Road, Leetonia, reported at 9:42 a.m. Saturday when he went to pick up his child at the Layered Edge her mother, Nancy Allen, started an argument about when the child should be returned stating she needs her back at 9 a.m. Sunday. The divorce agreement states 6 p.m. Sunday. Allen then allegedly climbed into the cab of his truck, taking his coffee and throwing it at him. When she got out, he pulled away and she screamed that he ran over her foot. He told deputies he did not hit her, but he stopped anyway and she had her shoe off, but saw no redness on her foot. He did not want to pursue charges, just put his side of the story on the record.

— Miranda C. Halligan, Gavers Road, Hanoverton, reported at 10:32 a.m. Sunday another vehicle caused her to run off the roadway to avoid a collision. The vehicle pulled from Beaver Street when she was northbound on North Market Street and nearly struck her. There was a tire mark in the curb lawn about a foot off the roadway, which appeared fresh. Halligan’s front passenger side tire was covered in wet mud. Halligan also reported when she took evasive action her phone fell onto the floor and broke. The other vehicle was driven by Paul Preston, Thomas Road, Lisbon, who identified himself, but denied pulling in front of Halligan.
