SALEM FIRE

— Firefighters responded to Fresh Mark, 1735 S. Lincoln Ave., at 8:20 a.m. Monday for a fire alarm activation. Upon arrival, security didn’t know the fire department was responding, contacting maintenance and learning the alarm company was working on the system and failed to take the alarm out of service with the monitoring firm.

— Firefighters responded to the 500 block of East Fourth Street for a fire alarm going off in an apartment at 9:56 p.m. Sunday. Upon arrival, it was found the smoke detector in the apartment activated. The apartment was checked and no problems were found. Residents were advised to contact maintenance to replace the smoke detector.

— The fire department was called at 9:22 p.m. Sunday to the 200 block of Vine Avenue for water leaking through the ceiling of a bathroom. Police were also on the scene and the resident shut off the electricity at the main electrical panel for his apartment. The leak was coming from an upstairs apartment. Police were able to make entry through an open sliding door and found a leaking toilet which was then shut off at the valve. The resident was advised not to turn on power until an electrician can check the wiring.

— Firefighters were requested at 4:44 p.m. Sunday in the 1200 block of East Third Street by the police department to check lines down on a plow truck in an alley. Firefighters found cable lines down and a pole leaning on the rear of the truck. No electric lines were involved, only cable and phone lines. No hazards were found.
