PERRY TWP:.

— Police responded at 3:48 a.m. Friday to the 1700 block of Goshen Road for an unauthorized use of a motor vehicle complaint. A man said his vehicle was taken by his live-in girlfriend and she did not have permission to use the vehicle. The vehicle was involved in an accident while she was driving it and was later recovered by the Ohio State Highway Patrol. According to the Canfield patrol post, Bobbi Crookston, 30, whose address was listed as Poland, was northbound on state Route 11, a mile north of U.S. Route 224, when the vehicle she was driving struck the rear of another northbound vehicle driven by David Solmen, 57, of Columbiana, at 9:43 p.m. Thursday. No injuries were reported. Crookston was charged by the patrol with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, operating a vehicle under the influence, assured clear distance and failure to reinstate license.

— Portage County requested a welfare check at 10:37 p.m. Thursday on a female in the 1100 block of West Perry Street after her husband allegedly made comments to harm himself. Salem Police were asked to assist. Police made contact with the husband as he arrived at the residence. The male was transported to a predetermined location and handed over to Portage County officials, then transported to a hospital.

— Police were called at 4:51 p.m. Thursday to the 1700 block of state Route 344 for a male to be removed. A man said he did not want his son at his residence after he was asked to come there to talk and the situation became heated. His son does not live there and does not agree with the female the father is dating. The son told police that things did get a little heated and he doesn’t like the girl his father is dating. He said he wanted some belongings from the residence. Police told him not to return and that his father advised arrangements would be made for him to get his belongings.

— A tree was reported down in the road in the 300 block of West Pidgeon Road at 4:26 p.m. Thursday. Police had the fire department respond for traffic control due to an emergency call. A tree was also reported down on Egypt Road, with the police providing traffic control until the road department could remove the tree.

SALEM

— A suspicious vehicle was reported parked on the road for the past week in the 300 block of West 10th Street at 7:40 a.m. Friday. Police located the van legally parked and the owner moved it to the driveway.

— A barking dog was reported at 7:34 a.m. Friday in the 600 block of East Third Street, but was not found.

— A woman in the 200 block of Woodland Avenue reported at 6:19 a.m. Friday that two vehicles were entered overnight on her property. She found the door to one vehicle open and the glove box ransacked. Three speakers in two different speaker boxes belonging to her boyfriend were stolen from one vehicle. Both vehicles were unlocked.

— A possible intoxicated driver was reported at 3:32 a.m. Friday near East Sixth Street and North Lincoln, but was not found.

— Police conducted a welfare check at 11:15 p.m. Thursday on a person in the 2500 block of Lexington, finding them to be ok.

— City police assisted Perry Township at 10:39 p.m. Thursday with locating a reported violent person in the 1100 block of West Perry Street.

— Richard Wright, of Westerville, was cited for disorderly conduct-public intoxication and taken to Salem Regional Medical Center after police were called to Walmart on East State Street at 9:12 p.m. Thursday for a medical call. The report said a person later identified as Wright was intoxicated walking around the store and fell, striking his head while exiting the store.

— A debit card found in the area of West Pershing and South Howard was turned over to police at 9:12 p.m. Thursday.

— A driver was issued a written warning for a traffic violation after a stop at 9:08 p.m. Thursday in the 100 block of West State Street. K-9 Simon indicated to the presence of a narcotic odor.

— Two suspicious people were reported walking around for an hour in the 500 block of Walnut Street at 7:02 p.m. Thursday, but were not found by police.

— Police responded at 6:36 p.m. Thursday to the 1200 block of Westview for a motor vehicle lockout with a child inside. Officers made entry and the child was unharmed.

— An alarm was reported at 6:22 p.m. Thursday on Elm Avenue, but the building was secure.

— Loud music was reported at 4:46 p.m. Thursday in the 200 block of Rose Avenue. Police asked the person to turn down the music and he became very upset because he did not believe the music was loud. He also said the noise ordinance didn’t start until 10 p.m. and he did not have to turn down the music. Officers spoke with him for several minutes to calm him down and he agreed to shut the door to the residence.

— Officers responded at 4:27 p.m. Thursday to Salem Regional Medical Center to assist with a patient who fled from the emergency room. Officers located the person in question in the 400 block of Continental Drive, but the female ran from them and entered a residence. The female refused to come out when requested by police, then officers entered the residence and were able to gain control of the female as she continued to fight with them. She was taken back to the hospital by ambulance and officers were again forced to assist staff as she became belligerent and combative.

— An unruly juvenile was reported at 4:26 p.m. Thursday on Whinnery Road where she made comments about wanting to harm herself. She was taken to Salem Regional Medical Center by EMT ambulance.

— A burglary in progress was reported at 3:32 p.m. Thursday in the 700 block of North Lincoln Avenue, but police found it was a family member retrieving items for the homeowner.

— A license plate was recovered at 3:22 p.m. Thursday in the area of Franklin and Washington.

— Police were called at 3:05 p.m. Thursday about high water on the road near American Standard on Newgarden Avenue. Officers blocked the road for a brief time until the water receded enough to let traffic through.

— A reckless vehicle/possible intoxicated driver was reported at 2:59 p.m. Thursday in the 2800 block of East State Street, but was not found.

— Police at 2:43 p.m. Thursday checked the well-being of a female saying she wanted to harm herself in the 200 block of North Lincoln Avenue. Officers spoke to her, fire department first responders and KLG responded and she was taken to the hospital.

— A domestic dispute was reported at 2:17 p.m. Thursday in the 200 block of Park Avenue. A male said he and his girlfriend had a verbal dispute when he refused to get out of her vehicle.

— A civil dispute between family members was reported at 1:57 p.m. Thursday in the 100 block of Fair Avenue. Both parties exchanged property after talking with police.

— A woman at 1:37 p.m. Thursday reported her purse stolen out of her shopping cart at Walmart on East State Street.

— No citations were issued after a two-vehicle accident on East State Street near Southeast Boulevard at 12:49 p.m. Thursday when a vehicle driven by Kenneth Rockhold, 62, of Lisbon, struck the rear of a vehicle driven by Stephen Simplican, 65, of New Waterford, who was stopped in traffic. There was no damage to the Simplican vehicle and minor damage to the license plate on the other vehicle. Simplican was taken to Salem Regional Medical Center by ambulance for unknown injuries.

— A large tree limb was reported on the curb lawn in the 700 block of North Union Avenue at 12:20 p.m. Thursday. The limb pulled down multiple lines from a house. Ohio Edison arrived and cleared the live wires and the city service and fire departments assisted until the scene was safe.

— A reckless driver was reported in a Malibu that was all over the road with a small child in the front seat at 11:20 a.m. Thursday at Walmart. The vehicle was found unoccupied.

— Delaney Mellinger, 20, of Jersey Ridge Road, was cited for going the wrong way on a one-way street after traveling eastbound, the wrong way, on Sugartree Alley near Lincoln at 8:45 a.m. Thursday and colliding with a vehicle entering the alley from the south out of a parking lot. The other vehicle was driven by Timothy Barry, 67, of Quaker Lane. No injuries were reported. While on the scene, police discovered the owner of one of the vehicles had an active warrant. Michael Mellinger, 49, of Cleveland Street, was taken into custody on a warrant for failure to appear.

— Police responded to the 900 block of Franklin at 7 a.m. Thursday to assist Wellsville police in looking for a juvenile runaway. The homeowner reported talking to the juvenile on Wednesday and said they may be at a friend’s house. The information was passed along.

LISBON

–Nicole Sayer reported Thursday someone put sugar into the gas tank of her SUV while she was staying in the white house behind the police department.

–Timothy J. Johnson, 38, Roller Coaster Road, Lisbon, was charged with a turn signal violation, receiving stolen property and driving with fictitious plates following a traffic stop on North Vine Street 7:31 p.m. Thursday. While talking with Johnson, police learned from their dispatcher the license plate sticker came back as stolen out of Campbell. Johnson said someone he knows had stolen his vehicle but it was later recovered by Columbiana police, and he had just gotten the vehicle back. The officer told Johnson he is still responsible for what is inside and outside of the vehicles he drives.

–Police were called to 306 Lee Ave. at 12:24 p.m. Wednesday by a woman who wanted a man removed from the premises. The man called for a ride while police were there.
