Roy J. “Pete” Foley
EAST PALESTINE – Roy J. “Pete” Foley, 84, of West Martin Street, died at 10:05 p.m. Wednesday at the Salem Community Hospital, following a four month illness.
He was born Feb. 26, 1928 in East Palestine, a son of the late Thomas L. and Nola E. Arthur Foley, and was a lifelong resident of the community. He had been employed with the maintenance department at NRM, Columbiana, for 28 years, retiring in 1970. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife, the former Philomena Steiner, whom he married May 28, 1949; two sons, Thomas (Eileen) Foley of East Palestine and Roy W. “Petie” Foley of Negley; and two daughters, Debbie (Bill) Lewis of Petersburg and Karen (Dave) Davis of Jefferson. He also leaves a sister, Geraldine H. Pieri of East Palestine; seven grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
A granddaughter, Valerie Lamonias, preceded him in death.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Oliver-Linsley Funeral Home, with the Rev. Daniel Cipar officiating. Burial will follow in Crest Haven Memorial Gardens, New Waterford.
Military rites will be conducted by the combined units of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4579. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
