Charles Philip Cozad
AIKEN, S.C. – Charles Philip Cozad, 88, of Aiken, S. C., formerly of Salem, Ohio, and Ocala, Fla., passed away Feb. 4, 2013, at the Hospice Assisted Care in Aiken, S. C.
He was born March 7, 1924, in McDonald, Pa., the son of the late Charles W. and Ruth (McCullough) Cozad.
Mr. Cozad attended Salem grade schools and graduated in 1942 from Salem High School before spending three years in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII stationed in England.
He worked in the Salem Post Office until 1959 before transferring to the Ocala, Fla. Post Office where he retired. He was Presbyterian by faith.
Charles loved to golf and fish. They traveled all over the U.S. in their RV and spent their retirement years in Montreat North Carolina Lodge each summer.
His wife, Lois E. (Field) Cozad, whom he married in June of 1945, preceded him in death. A sister, Phyllis Shasteen, also preceded him in death.
Survivors include a son, the Rev. Dr. David Cozad of Aiken, S. C.; a daughter, Barbara (Allen) Biddle of Annondale, Va.; a sister, Faye Miller of Salem; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at the First Presbyterian Church in Aiken, S. C.
