Mildred E. Cooper

COLUMBIANA- Mildred E. Cooper, 97, of Copeland Oaks, formerly of Signal Road, Columbiana, died at 7:05 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at the Salem Community Hospital.

Mrs. Cooper was born March 16, 1915, in Beloit, a daughter of Frank and Helen Gunder Stanley. She was a member of the Middleton Friends Meeting. She served as activities director at the Quaker Heights Nursing Home in Waynesville, Ohio, and had also worked as a dietician at the Olney Friends School and Walton Retirement Home in Barnesville, Ohio. She had been assistant clerk of the Representative Meeting of the Friends Yearly Meeting.

Her husband, Thomas Charles Cooper, whom she married March 23, 1937, died Dec. 13, 1997.

She is survived by a daughter, Dorothy (Donald) Simpkins of Apopka, Fla.; three sons, Walter (Marlene) Cooper of Columbiana, Harold (Sara) Cooper of Arlington, Texas, and Jay (Tracy) Cooper of Virginia Beach, Va.; two sisters, Dorothy Bowersock and Sara Lee, both of Sebring; nine grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

A granddaughter, Brenda Cooper, is also deceased.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Middleton Friends Meeting House where friends may call from 1 p.m. until time of services. Burial will follow in the Middleton Friends Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Copeland Oaks Foundation, 800 S. 15th St., Sebring OH 44672.
