Richard A. Englert

LEETONIA – Richard A. Englert, 58, of Leetonia passed away at 11:10 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18 at Salem Community Hospital following a lengthy illness.

He was born in Salem, a son of the late Robert C. Englert and Ilah M. Sindeldecker of Leetonia. He grew up in southern California where he raised his children, worked as a truck driver-instructor for Werner Enterprises of Nebraska, before returning to Salem in 2004.

Due to heart complications he retired early and enjoyed hobbies such as welding and painting. He found his true happiness by riding his Harley and spending time with his family.

Preceding him in death are his father, a brother James Englert, a sister Beverly Englert and grandparents Frank Leo and Elizabeth Englert. Besides his mother he is survived by a son Allen Englert of Leetonia, a daughter Liza Englert of Kent, a brother Gerald Englert of Leetonia, a brother Charles Englert of Enid, Okla., life partner and mother of his children Laura Swartz of Leetonia, along with many other friends and family members.

He was a loving father, son, brother, friend and companion. He was extremely out-going and a true joy to everyone who knew him. He will truly be missed.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Grandview Cemetery Chapel with Pastor Jim Keaton officiating, a time of visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time.

Burial will follow the service at the cemetery.

A reception will be held at the Salem Community Center after the service for a time of remembering Richard.
